Married at First Sight Chapter 4489
Zachary felt a twinge of jealousy toward his grandmother but couldn’t say it aloud.
It made sense that Grandma got Serenity’s call before him—she was the elder, practically an ancestor, and he had to defer to her.
“Have you been good, baby?” Zachary asked.
“Seventh Brother has someone he likes? Then Grandma can rest easy. She’s been worried about him and Eighth Brother settling down. But if you ask me, there’s no need to stress. When fate arrives, nothing can stop it,” Serenity said.
“Marriage and children happen when the time is right.”
She chuckled. “If Grandma hadn’t pressured you, would you have even married me? You’d probably still be single.”
Zachary laughed. “That just means our destiny had arrived. If it had, even if Grandma forced me, I’d marry you. If it hadn’t, no amount of forcing would have worked—not even two years of it.”
“…Fair enough.”
He was right.
It was fate.
“Old Seven is a bit interesting, but I think neither of them fully understands their feelings yet. He might realize it sooner, but Miss Lan probably won’t catch on as quickly.”
“By the way,” Serenity added, “Old Seven’s ‘enemy’ is Lan Ruoruo, the daughter of the Lan family in Yangcheng.”
Zachary said casually, “Her surname or family doesn’t concern me. Once Seventh Brother marries her and she becomes part of our family, then I’ll start paying attention.”
“After all, once we’re family, it’s only right to know each other’s names and faces.”
Serenity said to him, “You’re the eldest brother, so you don’t need to worry about your younger brothers as much as Grandma does.”
“Wife, you know I fell for you the moment I laid eyes on you,” Zachary replied. “You’re the only one in my heart and my eyes. Other women mean nothing to me. Why would I worry about my brothers’ marriages? Honestly, aside from you, I don’t even look at other women.”
“I really can’t tell who’s good or bad. You’re the eldest sister-in-law—please forgive me for that.”
“Darling, enough about others. You’ve been gone so long—did you miss me? I missed you terribly. Ever since you left, I’ve been distracted. Just now in a meeting, my mind was completely on you.”
Serenity laughed. “I just left today.”
“Still, when you’re not by my side, I can’t focus. You’re my emotional anchor. Come back soon, please.”
“Your husband misses you like crazy.”
Serenity smiled. “We’ll come back in ten days. If the kids are having too much fun and don’t want to leave just yet, we might stay a few extra days.”
“Just focus on your work for now. Finish anything important. Once we’re back, we’ll let the grandparents look after the kids, and you and I can sneak away to the beach for a few days—just the two of us.”
Zachary immediately understood what “a world for two” meant and felt both excited and slightly disheartened. Ten days or even half a month felt too long to wait.
“Wife, don’t you miss me? Are you really okay waiting that long to come back?”
“Do you want the truth or a lie?” she teased.
Zachary replied, “…Tell me a lie. I know the truth doesn’t favor me. I’d rather hear a lie that makes me feel loved.”
“I do miss you,” Serenity said playfully, “but once I’m out having fun, I get caught up in the moment. I only think of you when I have a quiet moment.”
“Plus, I’ve got two kids to look after—so there’s even less time to miss you.”
