He doesn’t smoke or drink.

The workload hasn’t changed, but I don’t work late into the night anymore. I try to be in bed before 11 p.m.

During that time, Serenity’s workload was slightly reduced.

Knowing they were planning for a second child, Shen Xiaojun and Shang Xiaofei took on much of her work, allowing Serenity to feel more relaxed.

Shang Xiaofei and Jun Ran also had a son after they got married. It’s still uncertain whether they’ll try for a second child.

Shang Xiaofei often complained that all her relatives and friends gave birth to sons—and she ended up having one too, even though both she and her husband were hoping for a daughter.

Shang Wuhen and his wife did have a second child, and as expected, it was another boy. Even Audrey joked that if things went on like this, the Shang family would turn into the second Zhan family—a Buddhist temple full of boys.

The second son of the Shang family just got married last year and hasn’t had any children yet.

Currently, the only families with daughters are Ye Junbo and his wife, and Zachary and his wife. Liberty gave birth to her second child—a girl—two years ago. She named her Feng Jue, with the nickname Niu Niu, because as a baby she would twist around like a snake when waking up, hence the nickname.

Niu Niu is six months older than Bei Bei and is now two years old. She speaks clearly and is very clever—a bright little girl loved dearly by both the Feng and Lu families.

“But our workload really wasn’t too heavy during that time.”

“Let’s stop talking about this. Go back to your meeting. I need to check on the kids—I’m not sure if Old Seven can manage them both.”

“When you’re done with work tonight, let’s video chat again. The kids will want to see you too.”

Zachary snorted twice. “They’re having so much fun, they’ve probably forgotten I exist. So heartless—once they’re out the door, it’s like their father doesn’t even exist.”

“Poor me. My wife and kids abandoned me to be a lonely workhorse at home. Every night, I’m stuck here alone in an empty house.”

Serenity burst out laughing. “Zachary, are you trying to make me laugh myself to death?”
“Okay, we’ll go back in ten days. If the two kids don’t want to return, just leave them with Old Seven, and I’ll head back alone. Sound good?”

Even after so many years of marriage, this man was still so clingy.

Zachary said, “We have to bring Beibei back. Baobao can stay with Lao Qi for the summer. If he stays at home with Su Meng, that combo could bring disaster—it’ll be a nightmare.”

And it’s not like he can hit the boy.

If he so much as dares to lay a hand on his son, his parents and grandmother would have no problem hitting him instead.

His uncles and aunts would scold him harshly, accusing him of poor parenting. Even his own uncles would criticize him, saying violence is no way to raise a child.

Ha! He wouldn’t even get the chance to find the clothes hanger before getting reprimanded himself. What violent discipline?

When he was a kid, whenever he made mistakes or got into trouble, his grandparents would discipline him—and yes, sometimes that meant a beating.

But now, with the next generation, even raising your voice gets you sharp glares from the elders.

Back when he was being disciplined by his grandparents, his parents would disappear like ghosts, keeping their distance and never stepping in to defend him.

Now, the grandchildren are pampered beyond reason.

You really have to admit—the bond between grandparents and grandkids is something else.

“I took the kids out to play. Did Ah Meng come by looking for his friends?”

Zachary replied, “Su Nan sent him off for some hardcore training. Every day after training, he runs to complain to his grandparents, crying like his dad just died. Su Nan told him the other kids are off on a long trip, and that made him cry even harder.”

Pure envy, jealousy, and resentment.
