Married at First Sight Chapter 4499
“Sister-in-law, why are you looking at me and smiling like that?”
Zhan Wei felt a bit uneasy under his sister-in-law’s gaze.
Fortunately, his eldest brother wasn’t around—otherwise, that glare alone would have been enough to kill him.
“I can’t remember Miss Lan’s phone number. Do you have it? Give it to me. I’ll call her and ask if she’s free to go shopping with me tonight and enjoy the night view of Yangcheng.”
As a tourist city, Yangcheng was bustling even late into the night. It wasn’t uncommon to see tourists out and about well past midnight.

Zhan Wei said, “Of course I remember—her number’s engraved in my brain. Even if I lost my memory, I’d still know it.”
As her long-time rival, he knew her preferences, her pet peeves, her phone number—and even her measurements.
But Zhan Wei didn’t dare say any of that aloud, fearing his sister-in-law would misunderstand and think he was interested in Lan Ruoruo.
He wasn’t. That woman… well, she wasn’t bad. Ignoring their business rivalry, they’d actually be a pretty good match.
Zhan Wei called Lan Ruoruo right away, but she took a moment before answering.
Before he could say a word, Lan Ruoruo snapped, “Zhan Wei, are you done yet? Since when did you become so shameless? Is your last name Lai* or something? You’re blaming everything on me!”
“I’m warning you—if you call me again asking for a meal or some kind of compensation, I’ll tell Sister Tong. An elder sister-in-law is like a mother. I’m sure Sister Tong can handle you.”
Zhan Wei had great respect for his sister-in-law.
Maybe it really would help if Sister Tong had a word with him.
Lan Ruoruo always believed she was in the right.
Zhan Wei sighed, “…Lan Ruoruo, can you not jump to conclusions before I even open my mouth? Can’t you wait for me to say something first?”
“My last name is Zhan, not Lai. And if you’re calling me shameless, you’re not much better yourself. We’re all just older siblings—don’t mock your younger brother. We’re pretty much the same.”
“Alright then, let’s hear what great excuse you’ve come up with,” Lan Ruoruo replied, curious about the reason for his call.
Instead of responding, Zhan Wei handed the phone to Serenity and let her do the talking.
Taking the phone, Serenity said with a warm smile, “Miss Lan, it’s me—Serenity.”
“Sister Tong?”
As soon as Lan Ruoruo heard her voice, her tone softened. “Sister Tong, you’re the one looking for me? Did you ask Zhan Wei to call?”
“Yes,” Serenity replied. “I wanted to take the kids out for a stroll. Zhan Wei didn’t know which spots had the best night views. You once mentioned helping arrange a local guide, so… I thought I’d trouble you.”
Serenity said this a bit shyly.
Lan Ruoruo responded cheerfully, “Sister Tong, I’ll arrange a local guide for you tomorrow to show you around and make your Yangcheng visit worthwhile. I’m not free tonight, so I’ll personally take you.”
“Even though Zhan Wei has lived in Yangcheng for a few years and even bought a house here, he still doesn’t know his way around. He needs GPS just to get around. Without it, he probably can’t even remember the route from his company to his home.”
Zhan Wei, who was sitting nearby, could clearly hear Lan Ruoruo’s voice. When she said that about him, he wanted to argue—but stopped himself, knowing it would only start another fight.
More importantly, what she said was mostly true.
He really did rely on navigation. Without it, getting from home to the company would be a struggle.
His sense of direction was… let’s just say, not his strong suit.
