**Judy’s POV**

I found myself standing in front of Gavin’s mother, Donna Landry. She looked at me with such disappointment that I felt a knot of anxiety forming in my stomach. Next to her was Daisy, who stood quietly, aware of the tension in the air.

Her arms were crossed over her chest, and she wore a smug smile. The last thing I wanted right now was to have an argument with her, especially since I was out to dinner with my family. We were celebrating my father’s return, and I wanted to enjoy the moment, not get caught up in a conflict.

“Are you the woman living in my son’s mansion?” she asked sharply. Her eyes scanned me from head to toe, making me feel my cheeks flush with embarrassment as I looked back at her.

His mother confronted me in the restaurant, and it was clear she didn’t like me at all. I felt like I had no chance with him because I seemed so insignificant compared to his family. Everyone thought he should be with Daisy, not with me.

Once I felt a little better, I took a deep breath and went back to the table where my parents were sitting. By the time I returned, our meal was ready.

The food had already arrived. My parents were the type who wouldn’t eat until everyone was seated and ready to enjoy the meal. They smiled at me as I took my seat, their hands resting neatly on their laps.
