Seducing My Ex's Father In Law Chapter 469
Matt was completely unconscious, unaware of anything happening around him.
It didn’t take long for the doctor to arrive and take over from the nurses.
“Alpha, I came as soon as I heard,” said Dr. Eliza Pierce—Taylor’s mate—as she entered the room, her face clouded with concern. “Is it true he shifted into his wolf form? I was just talking to Taylor about it.”
I had already updated Taylor through the mindlink on our way here. He had heard bits of the story when he took Judy home, so he had some idea of what was going on.
“Yes,” I answered, keeping my eyes on Matt’s flushed, sweaty face. “It took a lot out of him.”

She nodded, then checked his heartbeat and began drawing more blood for testing.
“I’ve never seen anything like this,” she said, clearly in awe. “A shift at only eight years old. Have you ever heard of such a thing?”
“No,” I answered honestly. “It’s never happened before.”
She continued her examination, taking notes in her clipboard. After adjusting the IV, she placed a damp cloth on his forehead to help lower his fever.
“He just needs fluids and rest. The first shift drained him. I’ll give him something to help speed up the healing—if he were awake, he’d be in a great deal of pain. This is his body’s way of protecting itself,” she explained. “But he’s going to be okay.”
I sat frozen, unable to say much. I waited silently as she administered the medication, then jotted a few final notes before leaving the room.
Leaning back in my chair, I stared at Matt for a long time. The sky outside was dark now, and for a moment, I considered calling Judy to give her an update… but just as I opened my phone and saw her name, I hesitated.
Judy wasn’t his mother. She wasn’t my wife. She wasn’t even my girlfriend. There was no real reason to contact her. Still, she had been there when it happened… maybe she’d want to know.
I sat in silence, weighing whether or not to make the call. Before I could decide, there was a soft knock at the door—followed by it opening.
To my surprise, Judy walked in. Her expression was tight with worry, her eyes red and swollen. She’d been crying. My brows knit together—Taylor must have told her I was here. But why was she so upset?
When our eyes met across the room, she quickly crossed the space between us, hugging herself tightly like she was trying to keep it together.
“Why didn’t you tell me he was here?” she whispered, clearly trying not to wake Matt. “Is he okay?”
“He’ll be fine,” I assured her, meeting her gaze. “What are you doing here?”
“You didn’t think I’d want to be?” she asked, stopping just inches from me. “Of course I want to be here for him, Gavin. How could you not tell me he was in the clinic like this?”
Her eyes welled up again, and for a second, guilt settled in my chest.
Without thinking, I pulled her into my arms. She gasped at the sudden movement, but after a second, she melted into the embrace, wrapping her arms around my waist and burying her face in my chest.
“I didn’t want to bother you with this,” I admitted, my lips brushing her hairline. “I should’ve called.”
She nodded against me, tears soaking through my shirt.
“Yes, you should have.”
I furrowed my brows. Something about her reaction felt… off.
“This isn’t just about Matt being in the clinic,” I said gently. “What else happened? What’s wrong?”
She was quiet for a moment, and I honestly didn’t think she would answer.
But then she pulled back and looked up at me, her tear-streaked face fragile and full of hesitation.
“So much has happened,” she whispered. Her eyes held a shaky uncertainty that twisted something deep inside me—an ache I wasn’t used to feeling. “I think Sammi… is working against me. Against my family. I think she’s working with Ethan.”
