Judy’s POV

I didn’t remember leaving the villa. I didn’t remember getting into my car. Somehow, I ended up back at my parents’ house, but the entire drive was a blur. I was in a daze when I stepped out of the car. My mother came running toward me, tears in her eyes and a horrified expression on her face. My father stood in the doorway, his expression unreadable.

There was no doubt—they’d seen the article. And I was in deep trouble.

If they revoked my win from the competition, I’d lose everything I’d worked so hard for. My stomach twisted into a tight knot, and I thought I might throw up right there.

As soon as I got out, my mother pulled me into a tight hug.

“Please tell me it’s not true,” she whispered. “Tell me you’re not involved with Gavin Landry.”

I didn’t know what to say. She would see through any lie I tried to tell. I was tired of lying to my family, tired of sneaking around behind their backs just to be with Gavin. I hated that it had come to this—but I knew I had to be honest now.

Still, even knowing what needed to be done, the words wouldn’t come.

“Let’s get her inside,” my father said, turning away and walking into the house. “We’ll talk as a family.”

His tone made my heart sink. My mother gently pulled back, wiped her tears, and nodded, taking my hand and leading me inside. Once there, the air felt heavy, like I couldn’t breathe.

My mother sat with me on the couch while my father paced across the living room.

“Dad—”

He raised his hand, cutting me off. I shut my mouth, unsure what to do.

After what felt like an eternity of silence, he finally turned to face me.

“Is that why he paid off my debt?” he asked. “Because you’ve been sleeping with him?”

“He would’ve helped either way,” I blurted, cheeks burning. “He didn’t do it just for me. He found out what happened and took the initiative.”

“Did you tell him?” my father asked, eyes narrowed.

“No!” I nearly shouted. “I didn’t tell him anything. He found out on his own.”

My father fell silent again, clearly processing everything I’d said.
Judy’s POV

“Did you win the competition because of him?” my father finally asked, folding his arms across his chest.

My heart shattered at the accusation.

“Richard!” my mother snapped before I could respond.

“Well, what am I supposed to think, Shelly?” my father shot back.

Tears burned in my eyes. I hated this conversation. I hated that he didn’t trust me… that he was questioning me now of all times.

“I won because I’m good at what I do,” I said, my voice firm as I narrowed my eyes at him. “When it came to choosing the winner, Gavin stayed out of the final vote to avoid showing favoritism. I didn’t even know he would be there—he’s never attended a competition before, and I didn’t expect this one to be any different.”

My father stared at me for a long moment before sighing, his expression softening just a little.

“How long has this been going on?” he asked quietly, his voice strained with emotion.

“We’re not exactly together,” I replied, carefully choosing my words. “We went on a few dates and kissed.” That was only a partial truth—we’d done more than just kiss—but my parents didn’t need to know the full extent.

“You and Gavin Landry are a recipe for disaster,” he said, shaking his head. “He’s too old for you, he already has children, and on top of that, you don’t belong in his world, Judy.”

His words cut deeper than I let on. I swallowed hard and stared down at my hands, twisting them in my lap.

“I know…” I whispered, my voice barely audible.

“It would be best if you stopped seeing him,” my father said firmly, making me flinch. Before I could respond, his phone began to ring, interrupting the conversation.

He glanced at the screen—and his face went pale.

Gavin’s POV

“I found out who sent the photos to the media,” Derek said as he walked into my office. I turned to face him, waiting for him to continue.

“I traced the IP address back to Sammy Churchill’s phone. She deleted the photos, but I recovered them—and they’re all there. More than you’d expect. She’s been watching you and Judy the entire time you were at the competition. And get this—Sammy is the black wolf who saved Judy during the attack. She was there, taking photos when it happened. She accidentally hit the video button as she dropped her phone. You can actually see her shifting and rushing to Judy’s rescue.”
