Chapter: 2604
McDon was really upset and shouted, “Hey! You jerk, stop right there!”
Mai Chengxing smiled and gently patted him on the shoulder. “It’s a good thing to avoid trouble. Don’t get so angry,” he said kindly.
Mike chimed in, feeling frustrated. “Grandpa, that guy is terrible! I gave him two thousand dollars, and he just dropped us off here and ran away. This journey shouldn’t have cost more than fifty dollars. If we let him get away with this, who knows how many others he’ll cheat in the future! I need to call the police!”
Mai Chengxing nodded in agreement. “You’re right; that guy was really out of line. But you don’t have to stoop to his level. Remember, the most valuable thing in life is time. Successful people know this well, while those who fail often don’t.”
He continued, “If you call the police now, we will have to wait for them to arrive, or we can go to the station ourselves and explain what happened. We’ll need to remember the details about that guy and his car. Once the police catch him, they will want us to identify him and write up a report. This could take us at least half a day.”

Mai Chengxing added, “In the U.S., if someone asks me for advice on Feng Shui or divination, they pay me fifty thousand dollars an hour. So, spending two thousand dollars on someone like him is just ridiculous.”
Mike couldn’t hold back. “Grandpa, I want to call the police not just for the two thousand dollars. I want to teach that guy a lesson and show him that honesty is important in our society! This way, we might stop him from cheating others in the future.”
Mai Chengxing waved his hand and spoke seriously to Mike. “Mike, since you’re interested in Feng Shui and want to study it deeply, you need to remember something important.”
Mike leaned in eagerly. “What should I remember, Grandpa?”
Mai Chengxing said firmly, “You must never be nosy. Keep this in mind: ‘Every family should clean the snow in front of their own house and not worry about others.’”
Mike looked confused. “Grandpa, is that a joke?”
“Not a joke,” Mai Chengxing smiled. “This is real wisdom from our ancestors! Cleaning the snow in front of your house is a good and acceptable thing. No one can blame you for that.”
He continued, “But if you start taking care of other people’s problems, you’ll run into trouble. If you help your neighbor, they might then wonder why you aren’t helping them all the time. And if you do help one neighbor, others might feel you should help them too.”
Mai Chengxing explained, “In the end, you’d end up trying to clean the snow for the entire community. That’s just too much!”
Mike nodded, starting to understand.
Mai Chengxing added, “As Feng Shui experts, we shouldn’t be overly sympathetic. My grandfather was great at reading people. When he walked through the city, he could spot someone who was about to face a serious misfortune, even a family crisis.”
He continued, “Sometimes, all it took to save someone was a gentle nudge or a word of advice.”
However, Mai Chengxing paused, leaving Mike curious about what would come next.
He can’t feel sorry for every single person. There are billions of people in the world. Once you start trying to control everything, you’ll feel responsible for everyone, and that’s impossible to manage.
“It’s like when we go out to show people Feng Shui. On the way to a client’s house, we might see dozens, even hundreds, of places that are poorly arranged. If we stopped to talk about each one, would it really help? Do you care about me?”
“In our line of work, we need to remember that once we step out of our door, our focus should be on the client’s well-being, not on everyone else. This is the key idea in Feng Shui. When will you truly understand this? Once you grasp this, you’ll know you’ve really begun to learn!”
