Charlie Wade drove to the administrative building of Jinling University of Finance and Economics. Following the room number given by the security guard, he arrived at the office of the deputy dean of the School of Economics and Management.

After a brief moment of hesitation, Charlie knocked on the door.

“Please come in!” came He Yuanjiang’s voice from inside after three knocks.

Charlie pushed the door open and saw He Yuanjiang sitting at his desk, wearing a neat suit and glasses while reading some documents. After a few seconds, He looked up at Charlie, surprised.

“Charlie Wade? What brings you here?” he asked, clearly taken aback.

Seeing He’s surprised expression, Charlie realized he didn’t recognize him as the chairman of the Emgrand Group. With a slight smile, he replied, “Hello Professor He. I had Dongxue arrange this appointment for me.”

“Wait, you’re the chairman of the Emgrand Group?!” He Yuanjiang exclaimed, jumping up in shock.

Charlie nodded and said, “Yes, Professor He, that’s correct.”

“Oh my God…” He Yuanjiang gasped. “Yesterday, I was with your Aunt Han, and she mentioned you were into Feng Shui. But being the chairman of a big group seems much more impressive…”

Charlie chuckled and said, “The Feng Shui part is just a rumor among some friends in Jinling. I’ve dabbled a bit in it, but my main focus is business.”

He continued, “I also hope you can keep my position as chairman a secret. My wife and I…”

“Don’t tell anyone, especially Aunt Han. My father-in-law doesn’t even know who I really am,” Charlie Wade said.

He Yuanjiang looked puzzled. “I’m curious about one thing. With such a significant identity, how did you keep it hidden from your wife and father-in-law? Didn’t they know about the Emgrand Group’s creation?”

Charlie explained, “The Emgrand Group is mine now, but I didn’t start it. It was founded nearly ten years ago, and I took over only last summer. As for my family, there are specific reasons I can’t share right now.”

He Yuanjiang paused for a moment, then nodded. “Alright, I won’t tell anyone. But I’m still unsure why you wanted to meet with me today.”

Charlie replied earnestly, “Ocean shipping is becoming more popular, and I’m looking to invest in this business. Unfortunately, I haven’t found the right manager yet.”

He looked at He Yuanjiang and added, “Dongxue recommended you, saying you are very capable and she respects you. I want to know if you would be interested in working with me.”

He Yuanjiang shook his head gently. “I’m sorry, Mr. Ye, but since I started teaching at MIT, I’ve decided to leave the corporate world.”

Charlie was surprised by the quick rejection. “Professor He, if it’s about money, we can discuss that. Just tell me your number, and I’ll make it work.”

He Yuanjiang replied, “It’s not about money. This is a personal decision. I’ve worked in several Fortune 500 companies for 20 years, and I’ve chosen a different path now.”
