Chapter: 2608
Charlie Wade looked confused and asked, “Why do you find it interesting to help companies make more profits? Isn’t your teaching also helping schools develop talent? I don’t see much difference between the two. Isn’t it a huge difference?”
He Yuanjiang smiled gently and replied, “To be honest, I’m not someone who cares much about money.”
He continued, “After you have a certain amount of money, it doesn’t really matter to me. My lifestyle hasn’t changed much since I started earning half a million dollars a year. Even when my income grew to ten million dollars a year, my living standards stayed the same as when I was making half a million.”
“While I’m not extremely wealthy, I have worked hard and saved tens of millions of dollars. I also invested in stocks, owning shares in companies like Apple and Tesla. If I sold everything, it might total around two to three hundred million dollars. But honestly, I don’t know how to spend it,” he admitted.
“The house I live in isn’t expensive. All my investments combined are about one million dollars. I don’t want a more expensive house; it just seems like too much trouble and unnecessary,” he explained.

“I drive a Tesla, which is a common choice. It’s practical and eco-friendly. The total cost of my car and investments is under $60,000,” he added.
“My monthly expenses are only a few thousand dollars, and my current salary covers that easily. The rest of my money just sits in the bank, losing its value. No matter how much I earn, I plan to donate all of it to charity.”
In the future, I feel I should just focus on teaching here,” He Yuanjiang said.
Charlie Wade was surprised. “Aren’t you going to leave a good amount of money for your children?”
He Yuanjiang smiled and replied, “Honestly, I haven’t thought about that. My daughter is around your age, and she lives a simple life like mine. She can earn money, but she doesn’t spend much and has no desire to.”
Charlie Wade felt a bit puzzled by this. He realized that He Yuanjiang was not interested in money; he only wanted to teach and inspire others. Charlie wondered how he could impress him and encourage him to work together.
After thinking for a moment, Charlie noticed a black-and-white sketch hanging on the wall of He Yuanjiang’s office. The drawing depicted a tree. It looked simple, and most people might not recognize what type of tree it was.
Still, Charlie found himself drawn to the sketch. “Professor He, did you draw this?” he asked with interest.
He Yuanjiang looked curious. “How did you know? I don’t sign my sketches.”
Charlie smiled. “Because I recognize this tree.”
“Oh?” He Yuanjiang leaned in, eager to learn more. “If you know it, can you tell me about it?”
Charlie nodded and said, “The tree you sketched is a redwood from California.”
He Yuanjiang was momentarily taken aback. Charlie continued, “In fact, your simple drawing resembles the emblem of Stanford University. If I remember correctly, the design in the middle of Stanford University’s logo features this tree.”
“The emblem looks like this: a red cedar tree,” he said.
He Yuanjiang was surprised and asked, “Did Mr. Ye also graduate from Stanford?”
