Chapter: 2610
“Yes!” He Yuanjiang said with a smile. “We’ve been classmates for several years, and we’ve always gotten along well. When I was trying to win over my crush, it was your mother who gave me a love letter.”
Charlie Wade looked curious. “Professor He, can you tell me more about my mother? I don’t know anything about her life before she married my father.”
He Yuanjiang sighed and began, “Your mother was quite a celebrity at Stanford! She was not only the best Chinese female student ever at the university, but she also served as the president of the Stanford Chinese Alumni Association. Plus, she started the Stanford Internet Venture Capital Fund. Many of the top tech companies in Silicon Valley owe their beginnings to her support.”
As he spoke, He Yuanjiang’s tone turned a bit wistful. “Your mother was truly an impressive woman in Stanford and Silicon Valley at that time. She was beautiful, smart, and incredibly capable. Her family’s wealth was remarkable too.”
He continued, “It’s rare to see someone from such a wealthy background who also works so hard and achieves so much. I have only met one person like your mother in my life. She stood out among all of our Chinese classmates and even the more arrogant white students.”

He Yuanjiang sighed again, reflecting on the past. “Back in those days, people used to say that among the many entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley, at least one-third of the men were admirers of your mother. It might sound exaggerated, but nearly everyone in Silicon Valley knew her name. She earned a lot of respect and admiration.”
Charlie Wade had just learned some surprising things about his mother. He wasn’t born yet when she was studying at Stanford and making investments in Silicon Valley. After he was born, his mother became a great support for his father. Because of this, Charlie only remembered her as a devoted mom, not as a business expert.
Charlie didn’t know much about his mother’s past since she was very private and rarely spoke about it. But when he heard Professor He Yuanjiang mention her, he became curious. “Professor He, do you know anything else about my mother?” he asked.
Professor He replied seriously, “Oh, there’s so much to tell… It would take three days and three nights to cover it all.” Then he grew somber and continued, “After your mother had her accident in Jinling, many of us from her class rushed back there on a chartered flight to find you. I was one of them. Despite being from Jinling myself, I couldn’t track you down. Your mother’s classmates from Stanford, along with nearly 100 of her friends in Silicon Valley, joined forces to search for you around the world. They searched for ten long years, but they never found you. Where have you been all this time?”
Charlie felt a wave of emotion. He was touched that so many people had been looking for him all these years. “Professor He,” he said, “I’ve actually been in Jinling all this time.”
With that, Charlie began to explain further.
Sihai was hiding in the orphanage from He Yuanjiang. He Yuanjiang sighed and said, “I never thought you would be in Jinling all this time…”
Charlie Wade then asked, “Professor He, do you know my father?”
He Yuanjiang shook his head. “When your father was in love with your mother, he didn’t keep in touch with us. We only knew he was the young master of the Yenching Ye family. We didn’t know much more than that. My wife and I had planned to attend your parents’ wedding in Yanjing, but something happened in the U.S., and we had to change our plans.”
He sighed again, adding, “The U.S. and China really are quite far apart. If I remember correctly, after your parents returned to China to get married, I only met your mother three times before her accident in Jinling. The last time was when she took you to Stanford…”
