Chapter: 2617
“Your daughter?!” Charlie Wade exclaimed, surprised.
He Yuanjiang smiled and explained, “My daughter is about your age. She graduated from Stanford last year and started working at Goldman Sachs on Wall Street. But she just left her job. I want her to come back to China for better opportunities, but she’s a bit stubborn and doesn’t always listen to me.”
Charlie was curious and asked, “Professor He, do you think your daughter would agree to work with me if I approached her?”
He Yuanjiang quickly replied, “I haven’t been pushing her too hard. The economy in China is booming right now, much stronger than in the U.S. or Europe. She’s starting to see the potential here, but she’s also a bit nervous about it. If you talk to her, I think she might agree.”
He then added, “I can’t say she’s a genius, but she has a real talent for finance and management. If you can convince her to work with you, I can support you from behind the scenes. I promise to keep my involvement low-key and only offer suggestions.”

Hearing this excited Charlie. He had hoped to win over Professor He but realized that direct help from him was unlikely. However, if he could convince the professor’s daughter to join him, it would be a huge advantage. Not only would he have Professor He’s support, but he’d also gain a skilled partner.
Charlie eagerly asked, “Professor He, I—”
“Do you not know where your daughter is now?” Charlie Wade asked.
He Yuanjiang sighed and replied, “She is in Syria.”
“Syria?!” Charlie exclaimed. “I heard that place is dangerous. Why would she go there?”
He Yuanjiang shook his head, clearly frustrated. “This girl always goes against me. I wanted her to come to China because it’s safe and has a lot of potential. I mean, there are shootings happening all the time in the United States. You could be walking down the street and get hit by a stray bullet. But when I suggested China, she teamed up with some classmates to go to Syria. She wants to experience the horrors of war and then come back to start an anti-war charity fund.”
He Yuanjiang grimaced in frustration. “Doesn’t it feel like she’s just trying to make trouble for me?”
Charlie nodded with a smile. “It sounds like she’s a bit rebellious.”
“A bit?!” He Yuanjiang said, slightly annoyed. “Do you know what the most frustrating part is?”
“What is it?” Charlie asked, curious.
He Yuanjiang hesitated, then waved his hand dismissively. “Never mind. It’s embarrassing to talk about. I don’t even want to tell anyone…”
