Chapter: 2662
Charlie Wade asked Faisal, “Do you have a common language here?”
Faisal shook his head. “The common language should be Arabic, but our soldiers come from different backgrounds, so many don’t speak Arabic.”
He continued, “Some of these people grew up in other countries, and some lived in former colonial areas. They may know English or French, so communication isn’t always easy.”
Faisal shared his own story, “I moved to the United States with my parents when I was very young. I even got a green card and served in the U.S. Army for three years. I returned a few years ago to join the Free Army, so my Arabic is not very good. I mostly communicate in English.”
Charlie nodded, understanding the situation. It reminded him of India, where many people don’t speak Hindi. Each Indian state has its own official language, and English is also used because of the country’s colonial past.

This language mix made it easier for Charlie to fit in. The more languages spoken, the less attention he would attract. He said to Faisal, “Once we go in, remember to act naturally and don’t give anything away.”
Faisal replied quickly, “Don’t worry, I will do my best!”
Charlie nodded again, pointed to the courtyard gate, and said, “Let’s go in!”
“Great!” Faisal exclaimed, stepping forward to open the courtyard door.
Inside the yard, more than a dozen soldiers with AK-47s were gathered around a campfire, grilling food to stay warm. Two legs of lamb were roasting on sticks over the fire, sizzling and giving off a delicious smell.
As Charlie entered with Faisal, one of the soldiers recognized them.
Faisal called out, “Captain Faisal, would you like some barbecue? Ansala’s mother also made some pita bread that will be ready soon!”
Faisal waved his hand and replied, “I won’t eat anymore. I’m here to check on the hostage situation.”
Hearing this, the man grinned and said, “Captain Faisal, are you interested in those women? But I must warn you, the commander said that without his permission, no one can do anything!”
Faisal quickly responded, “Don’t say nonsense! I’m just here to assess the situation. Go back and tell the commander I won’t open the cellar entrance right away!”
The man nodded eagerly, then turned to a soldier and gestured for him to help. Together, they lifted a heavy plank from the ground. Beneath it, a staircase made of dirt was revealed. The man respectfully said to Faisal, “Captain Faisal, please come in!”
Faisal smiled in approval and walked towards the entrance with Charlie Wade. The man pulled out a flashlight, turned it on, and said, “Captain Faisal, the stairs are dark. Please watch your step as you lead the way!”
Faisal glanced at Charlie Wade, who nodded back quietly. Satisfied, Faisal said, “Okay, you can lead the way!”
