Chapter: 2663
Charlie Wade and Faisal followed a man down into the cellar. The cellar was very deep, with stairs that went down at least five or six meters, almost two stories high. Since it was winter in Syria, the rainy season had made the stairs dark and damp, and the smell of wet soil was strong.
As they descended, the man in front spoke up, looking serious. “Captain Faisal, can you help me out?”
Faisal replied coolly, “What’s the issue?”
The man quickly said, “I want to join your armored team. I can handle heavy machine guns!”
Faisal sneered, “You want to join because you’re scared of dying, right?”

“No, no,” the man insisted. “I thought it would be good training with the armored brigade…”
Faisal smiled slightly. “I’ll think about it and let you know.”
The man looked thrilled. “Thank you, Captain Faisal!” He reached the bottom of the cellar.
At the bottom, there was an iron door with a small window that let in some light. The man leading the way knocked on the door and called out, “Open up! Captain Faisal is here!”
Someone inside quickly unlatched the door. A curly-haired man peeked out, waved at Faisal, and smiled. “Captain Faisal, what brings you here?”
Faisal replied coldly, “The commander sent me to check things out and talk to the hostages.”
The curly-haired man stepped aside with a grin. “Please, come in, Captain Faisal!”
Faisal turned to the man who had led them down.
“Go back. I remember what I just said. If there’s any news, I’ll let you know as soon as I can,” Captain Faisal said firmly.
“Thank you so much, Captain Faisal! I know you’re busy, so I’ll head upstairs! I’ll save you some roast leg of lamb for when you come up to eat!” the man replied cheerfully before turning to leave. Faisal waved at Charlie Wade, and the two of them walked into the cellar.
Charlie Wade thought the cellar would be a small room, but he was surprised to find it opened into a cave. Inside the cellar, there were two rooms. The outer room was about 20 square meters and had four soldiers on guard. Inside was a solid wall with a large iron door that had no windows. Charlie Wade sensed there were eight people in there, likely He Zhiqiu and her friends.
At that moment, Faisal had someone close the door behind them and looked at Charlie Wade, curious about what he would say next. The four guards stood alert, their guns ready. One of them was even wearing headphones, seemingly lost in a song.
Then, the soldier who had opened the door leaned closer to Faisal and whispered, “Captain Faisal, when is the commander going to act? Honestly, it would be better to just get rid of these Americans. They’re not useful. We need to let some of our guys take a break from this damp and smelly cellar. Staying here too long makes our skin itch and feel uncomfortable!”
Faisal replied coolly, “The commander has his own plans. Just follow his orders and don’t ask questions!”
“Okay.” The soldier sighed, looking defeated. “But if it’s really too much, Captain Faisal, could you please talk to him? We need a few brothers to change shifts. It’s really tough down here.”
Charlie Wade walked over to the soldier and gave him a reassuring pat on the shoulder.
He chuckled and smiled. “Come on, brother! Everyone is working for the commander. Let’s not complain so much!”
