Chapter: 2706
Du Haiqing laughed a few times and asked, “Haha, what is your dream?”
Su Zhiyu smiled and replied, “In my dream, it seems like I’m by the Yongding River. That’s my favorite spot for flying kites when I was a kid. You know, it feels strange to dream. I picture myself as a little girl, but it doesn’t feel odd at all while I’m dreaming.”
Du Haiqing nodded and said, “There’s nothing weird about that. Most dreams feel completely real while you’re in them, but they seem silly once you wake up. I’ve had so many ridiculous dreams in my life. I’ve dreamed of the dead being alive and of changing my life.”
Su Zhiyu looked at her mother and saw a hint of regret on her face. She couldn’t help but ask, “Mom, do you regret marrying Dad?”
Du Haiqing was surprised for a moment, then gave a bittersweet smile. “If I were your age and knew that marrying him would bring a lifetime of unhappiness, I wouldn’t have gone through with it. But now, when I think of you and your brother, I wouldn’t change a thing.”
Su Zhiyu’s eyes grew red as she listened. She understood her mother’s words. If it were only about herself, marrying her father would have been a mistake. But with her and her brother in the picture, her mother had no regrets.
Yet, she realized that her mother’s true feelings of love were hidden deep inside.
Su Zhiyu couldn’t help but say, “Thank you.”
Du Haiqing smiled and replied, “Silly girl, what are you thanking me for?”
Then, she gently wiped away a tear.
Su Zhiyu wiped away the tears from her eyes and said seriously, “You are not me. You are just like the girl your age back then. So, be careful when picking your partner in the future. Don’t follow the same path as your mother. There are many types of men in the world—tall, short, fat, thin, white, black, rich, and poor. None of that matters. What’s important is finding the right one for you. Always remember what I said and choose wisely.”
Su Zhiyu nodded and replied, “I understand, Mom.”
Just then, the doorbell rang.
Su Zhiyu quickly said, “It must be the aunt here to collect the dishes. I’ll get it.” She stood up and walked to the door, reaching out to open it.
To her surprise, standing at the door was the man she had dreamed about for a long time—Charlie Wade.
Charlie, tall and lanky with a serious expression, stood before her. When their eyes met, Su Zhiyu felt a rush of excitement that she couldn’t contain.
She exclaimed, “Charlie, it’s really you!”
Charlie looked at her and said blankly, “Miss Su, please let me pass.”
Confused but obedient, Su Zhiyu stepped back and asked, “Do you want to come in?”
Before she could react, Charlie pulled Su Shoudao, who had been waiting outside, into view. Su Zhiyu barely had time to register Su Shoudao’s face before Charlie dragged him forward.
Next to him, there was a loud bang. Charlie Wade had lifted his foot and kicked the man right into the room with a single blow.
