Chapter: 2707
Su Zhiyu was startled when she saw a figure rolling across the floor. But instead of looking up to see who it was, she focused on Charlie Wade’s face. When she realized Charlie was really there in front of her, it felt like all her longing from the past days surged within her like spring water. Tears began to flow down her cheeks.
Without thinking, she knelt on the ground and said, her voice trembling, “Thank you, Mr. Charlie, for saving my life twice, for saving my brother, and for saving my mother.”
Charlie pointed to a man lying on the ground nearby, his nose swollen and bruised. He said coldly, “Don’t rush to thank me. Look who he is.”
Su Zhiyu turned around and, to her shock, recognized the man. “Dad?”
She couldn’t believe the man Charlie had kicked in was her father, Su Shoudao.
Su Shoudao was equally confused. He had been worried about Su Zhiyu’s safety, thinking she might have been rescued by a Japanese master, but he never expected she was alive—especially not in Ye’s hotel.
Just moments ago, Charlie had confronted him, making him feel intense guilt about his two daughters. Now, seeing Su Zhiyu alive, he cried out, “You’re really alive! I can’t believe it!”
At that moment, Du Haiqing, looking shocked, rushed to Su Shoudao’s side.
Su Shoudao looked down at the floor, then up at Charlie Wade standing at the door. It felt like he was in a different world. Charlie Wade reminded him so much of Ye Changying. Standing in front of Du Haiqing brought back memories from thirty years ago, when he was infatuated with Ye Changying and dreamed of marrying him.
At that moment, Su Shoudao noticed Du Haiqing walking out, and it hit him like a bolt of lightning. He looked at her and said, “Haiqing, you’re alive.”
Du Haiqing turned at the sound of his voice, snapping back to reality. She looked at Su Shoudao, whose face showed the marks of time, and felt as if she had just awakened from a dream. Her calm expression made Su Shoudao feel uneasy.
She spoke in a steady voice, “Su Shoudao, after everything that’s happened, can we sign the divorce agreement?”
Su Shoudao felt a wave of shame wash over him. He choked on his words, “I signed it when I was back in Yanjing. I’ll sign it right now.”
Du Haiqing nodded and said, “Once you sign, it will be a clean break between us. I won’t pursue anything from the past.”
Su Shoudao’s eyes filled with tears as he pleaded, “Haiqing, the kidnapping and the car accident were all arranged by my father. I had nothing to do with it.”
“I know,” Du Haiqing replied with a slight smile. “As a couple, I understand that even if you have hated me, you would never truly want to harm me.”
