After hearing what He Zhiqiu said, He Yuanjiang suddenly snapped back to reality. He exclaimed, “You don’t like girls?! If you don’t like girls, can you like boys instead?!”
He Zhiqiu thought his father was just shocked, so he asked, “Dad, do you think I should like boys or girls?”
He Yuanjiang’s face lit up as he replied, “From a dad’s perspective, it’s definitely better to like boys!”
Then he quickly turned to Charlie Wade and said, “Charlie, forget about that girl named Zhiyu. If you know any good young men, please introduce them to Zhiqiu!”
Charlie smiled and nodded, “Sure, I’ll keep an eye out when the time comes.”
Feeling a bit embarrassed, He Zhiqiu responded, “Dad, I’m not really thinking about this right now. Mr. Ye took a huge risk to save me, so I want to focus on my work first. I can wait two years for romance.”
He Yuanjiang chuckled, “As long as you say you like boys, that makes me feel better. Waiting two years is fine, no need to worry!”
After that, he poured a glass of wine and said to Charlie, “Come on, Charlie, let’s have a drink. Today is a day of double happiness!”
Charlie understood why He Yuanjiang was so joyful. He raised his glass and said, “Since Uncle He is happy, let’s drink to that!”
As the meal went on, He Yuanjiang kept pushing drinks on Charlie, and by the end of the meal, he was quite tipsy. As the food was nearly finished and the wine was running low,
Charlie Wade turned to He Zhiqiu and said, “Zhiqiu, let’s call it a day. I’ll ask Hong Wu to take you and Uncle He home so you can rest well.”
He Zhiqiu nodded and then asked, “Mr. Ye, do you have time tonight? I’d like to invite you to dinner to thank you.”
Charlie Wade waved his hand. “Let’s save it for another day. You need to rest for a couple of days, and we can talk then about the ocean shipping business.”
“Sounds good,” He Zhiqiu replied. “I’ll wait for your message.”
At that moment, He Yuanjiang, slightly drunk, chimed in, “Charlie Wade, you’re truly a blessing to our family. If you ever need anything for your ocean shipping company, just let me know!”
Charlie Wade nodded and smiled. “Thank you, Uncle He. I’m sure I’ll need your help in the future.”
He Yuanjiang quickly replied, “It’s not trouble! But you will need to look after Zhiqiu. She’s very smart and knowledgeable, but she lacks real-world experience. I worry that she might not always see things clearly.”
Charlie Wade smiled and said, “Uncle He, I trust Zhiqiu will do just fine.”
He Yuanjiang sighed with a hint of nostalgia. “That would be wonderful. If only you hadn’t gotten married so early. If you were my son-in-law, I wouldn’t have to worry about her at all.”
He Zhiqiu’s face turned red. “Dad, what are you saying?”
He Yuanjiang chuckled and continued,
“Drink too much and just sigh with emotion!” Charlie Wade chuckled. “Since you’ve had a bit too much to drink, I’ll help you get some rest.”
He then called Hong Wu to drive, taking He Yuanjiang and He Zhiqiu home.
Once Hong Wu drove away, Charlie felt a little anxious. He wasn’t sure whether to go home or head to Buckingham Palace to relax. So, he decided to call Chen Zekai.
“Hey, Old Chen, has Ruoli’s mother left yet?” he asked.
Chen Zekai quickly replied, “Master, I just got word that He Yingxiu has taken a helicopter to the airport. She should arrive in Jinling in about three and a half to four hours.”
Charlie thought about the timing. Three hours would fly by. He realized it would be better not to go home since his wife, Xiao Churan, probably wasn’t there anyway. So, he drove straight back to Buckingham Palace to rest while waiting for He Yingxiu to arrive.
