Chapter: 2759
“He is the kind of person who provokes you, and then you have to deal with him. He knows that if he can’t get to you right away, he will come back eventually. His goal is clear, and he will achieve it,” Ye Zhongquan said with a smirk.
He continued, “For instance, take his relationship with Chang Min. Chang Min is his aunt, but that doesn’t matter to him. Since she disrespected him and his marriage, he went to Jinling anyway. He completely bypassed him to meet Ma Lan, getting into arguments and meddling in his marriage. Chen’er was able to keep her there for more than half a month, making her suffer in Jinling.”
Ye Zhongquan shook his head, feeling a mix of emotions. “Oh! Chang Min has lived for forty to fifty years without facing any real hardships. Yet, in just one go, she faced the full force of Chen’er.”
But then, Ye Zhongquan’s expression turned serious. “However, Chen’er was a bit reckless this time. It’s irrational to directly attack the Su family! Sure, their reputation and ocean transportation have been harmed, but their other businesses are still running fine. It’s not time to break bones yet. Going after Su Shoudao like this is practically pushing the Ye family into a war with the Su family.”
At that moment, Tang Sihai added, “Master, if a war does happen, it wouldn’t be surprising. The Su family has always been our biggest competitor. Even though we’ve coexisted peacefully for twenty years, we will eventually clash.”
Ye Zhongquan waved his hand dismissively, not agreeing.
“People say we shouldn’t handle things this way. The issue between us and the Su family is really about money, interests, and status. We should be fighting them in a different way, not with weapons! We don’t have the upper hand in a fight. If the Su family feels cornered, it could lead to serious trouble for us.”
He paused, then took out his cell phone. “I’ll call Chen’er and see what’s happening.”
Meanwhile, Charlie Wade was resting in Buckingham Palace. He had used a lot of his energy during his time in Syria and felt mentally drained. It was as if he hadn’t fully recovered yet.
He thought about trying to absorb the natural energy around him, as suggested in the “Nine Profound Heavenly Scriptures.” But in this modern city, surrounded by concrete and metal, finding that energy seemed impossible.
With underground garages and foundations just beneath the surface, there was hardly any soil. Even the trees around were transplanted, which meant their natural energy was greatly diminished. When these old trees are moved to the city, they struggle to survive in shallow, polluted soil. It was a miracle if they could even live, let alone provide any real energy.
Charlie felt as if he was in the middle of the Sahara Desert, with relentless sunlight above and dry sand below. The air was so dry that it felt like all moisture had vanished. Looking for energy in this environment felt like a foolish dream.
Just then, his phone rang, pulling him from his thoughts. He frowned as he looked at the screen.
Charlie Wade was sitting by his phone when it rang.
“Ye Zhongquan?” he thought to himself.
“It looks like the old man is here to ask about something,” he murmured as he pressed the answer button.
“Chen’er!” Ye Zhongquan’s voice came through the line.
Charlie replied, “What’s up?”
Without hesitation, Ye Zhongquan asked, “Chen’er, tell your grandfather the truth. Did you have anything to do with Su Shoudao’s disappearance in Jinling?!”
Charlie paused for a moment and then calmly said, “Yes, I did it. What’s the problem?”
