Chapter: 2782
In the evening, the sky darkened as a Rolls Royce Cullinan sped down the Jinling Ring Expressway. Behind the wheel was one of Chen Zekai’s men, with Chen Zekai sitting in the passenger seat. In the back were Du Haiqing and her daughter, Su Zhiyu.
Chen Zekai glanced at the navigation map and said, “Just a moment, ladies. We’re less than 10 minutes from our destination. Once we arrive, they can call your family.”
Du Haiqing and Su Zhiyu felt a rush of excitement. It had been a long time since the accident, and they worried their family was overly anxious about them. They could hardly wait to tell their loved ones that they were safe. However, since Chen Zekai mentioned just a short wait, they kept quiet and decided to hold on for those last 10 minutes.
Meanwhile, Du Haiqing’s father, Du Zhenhua, was at the Du family’s old house in Jinling, holding a meeting with his sons and daughters. They had been searching for Du Haiqing and Su Zhiyu since arriving from Yanjing. Like the Su family, they had used all their resources but found no trace of the mother and daughter.
Du Zhenhua looked at his children, worry etched on his face. “Why don’t you know? They said they would be here tonight, but why aren’t they?”
His eldest son, Du Haifeng, replied, “Dad, Zhifei just messaged me on WeChat. He’s busy with some concert arrangements and won’t be back for a while. We can start without him.”
“Hu Hong!” Du Zhenhua exclaimed, clearly frustrated.
Du Zhenhua felt frustrated. “I know this kid is usually sensible. How could he not realize what’s most important at a time like this? The safety of his mother and sister should come first!”
Du Haifeng replied, “I understand. This kid has been caught up with Haiqing and Zhiyu lately, but he must have other things on his mind. He can’t just drop everything to find their mothers.”
Du Haiyang, the second son, added, “Yes, Dad. I believe he knows what’s at stake. It’s just that after searching for so long without any leads, he might be feeling a bit discouraged. Don’t take it too hard.”
Du Zhenhua frowned. “I can’t shake the feeling that he seems distracted lately. I worry he’s becoming indifferent, just like the rest of the Su family.”
Du Haiping, Du Zhenhua’s eldest daughter, chimed in, “Dad, let’s focus on the task at hand. If I have time, I’ll talk to him. He grew up with us, and even though he carries the Su name, he’s not like his father or grandfather.”
With a sigh, Du Zhenhua waved his hand dismissively. “Alright, let’s put that aside for now. Let’s go over today’s situation. Did anyone find any clues?”
Everyone shook their heads in defeat.
Du Zhenhua grimaced, “What? No clues at all?!”
