Chapter: 2841
Hamid saw a group of people with East Asian features and smiled. In fluent Chinese, he said, “Some of them must be Charlie Wadeye’s men. It’s a warm welcome indeed!”
The others exchanged surprised glances. They were used to hearing slogans of welcome from young pioneers, with rosy cheeks and red scarves. They never expected such words to come from a big, bearded Middle Eastern warlord like Hamid.
One of the men, named Zhao Yinsheng, who was Chen Zekai’s confidant, approached Hamid. He smiled and said, “You must be Commander Hamid!”
Hamid nodded and replied with a grin, “Just call me Hamid. We’re all family here!”
He then added, “I know it’s been a long journey for you all. Come, have some tea and take a break!”
Zhao Yinsheng pointed to Su Shoudao and said, “Commander Hamid, this is Mr. Su Shoudao. Our young master asked us to bring him here to experience life.”
He then pulled Su Shoudao closer and explained to Hamid, “Our master wants you to make sure Mr. Su stays safe. Just keep an eye on him so he doesn’t wander off. And during the fighting, please keep him in the bunkers to protect him from stray bullets. That’s all.”
Su Shoudao felt tears welling up in his eyes. He thought, “Is this how people really talk? I spent all this effort…”
“100 million US dollars for just one sentence? That’s outrageous!”
Su Shoudao felt angry, but he didn’t dare show it. He knew better than to let his feelings show, especially since Hamid was a friend of Charlie Wade. Hamid seemed very loyal to Charlie, and Su Shoudao worried that if he upset him, he might face bad treatment or worse. It wasn’t worth the risk.
Thinking about how long he would be under Hamid’s watch and how he might be treated by his men, Su Shoudao forced a smile and said, “Hello, Commander Hamid. It’s a great honor to meet you today!”
After speaking, he glanced at Hamid.
He thought to himself, “Even though Hamid’s equipment looks old and outdated, he has at least a thousand soldiers. I’ve seen some relatively modern weapons here. He must be a powerful warlord to have this.”
“But it’s strange,” he continued to think. “Someone like him, who risks everything in battle, should be full of pride. Even the president of the United States might not get his respect. Why does he bow to a young guy like Charlie Wade? It makes no sense…”
Hamid then looked at Su Shoudao with a serious expression. “You don’t need to flatter me. Your treatment here isn’t up to me; it’s up to Brother Ye. If Brother Ye lets you stay in a small courtyard, then you can. But if he decides you sleep with the sheep, that’s where you’ll go!”
Su Shoudao could only smile and nod, keeping his head down.
“That’s it, everything is decided by Ye Gongzi…”
Hamid ignored him and turned to Zhao Yinsheng with a smile. “Please tell Brother Ye that once I have this guy, he has nothing to worry about. As long as I’m alive, I won’t let him die. If my place is taken by the enemy, I’ll take him out myself before I go, and I won’t let him fall into their hands!”
Su Shoudao couldn’t believe what he was hearing. He thought to himself, “What kind of education do you have? You’re contradicting yourself! You say you won’t let me die as long as you’re alive, but then you say you’ll kill me if something happens. Isn’t that just nonsense?”
