door and stepped into the room.
Su Shoudao looked up, surprised to see a young woman with a friendly smile. She had a messy bun and wore simple clothes.
“Hey there! I know this place isn’t great, but I’m here to help,” she said cheerfully.
Su Shoudao blinked, still trying to process his surroundings. “Help? With what? This place is a disaster!”
The woman chuckled softly. “I get it. But we can make it better together. My name is Mei. Let’s clean this up and make it livable.”
Su Shoudao sighed, feeling a mix of hope and frustration. “Clean it up? You mean I have to shovel that pit?”
“Yes, but I’ll help you. And we can figure out a way to make it smell better, too,” Mei replied, her eyes sparkling with enthusiasm.
As they started to work together, Su Shoudao felt a spark of determination. Maybe this didn’t have to be so bad after all. With Mei’s help, he could turn this awful situation into something more bearable.
“I’ve never had to do anything like this before,” he admitted, feeling a bit embarrassed.
Mei smiled. “We all have to start somewhere. Besides, it’s not just about cleaning. It’s about making a home.”
As they worked, Su Shoudao realized that having someone to talk to made a huge difference. He began to feel a little less alone in this strange place.
Together, they tackled the mess, and little by little, the room began to feel less like a prison and more like a space where he could begin anew.
Su Shoudao stepped into the courtyard just as Zhao Yinsheng arrived with a group of soldiers.
“Mr. Su,” Zhao said, “we are all set to leave for our country soon. I wanted to check in on you before we go. How do you like the detached house our young master arranged for you?”
Su Shoudao sighed, “Brother Zhao, the conditions here are really awful…”
Zhao replied sincerely, “Come on, Mr. Su, you’re one of us. You can handle a few hardships. People can overcome great challenges, right?”
Su Shoudao quickly responded, “No, brother, really… these conditions are terrible! You should come in and see where I’m living. Even a donkey’s stable is better than this!”
Zhao waved his hand apologetically. “I’m sorry, Mr. Su, but I’m in a hurry. I have to leave soon, so I can’t go in and take a look.”
He then smiled and asked, “Is there anything else you need to say?”
Su Shoudao wanted to express his feelings about Charlie Wade, but he held back. Instead, he choked up and asked, “Brother Zhao, could you pass a message to Ye Gongzi for me?”
Zhao nodded, “Sure, just let me know. As long as it’s not too personal, I’ll do my best.”
Su Shoudao quickly said, “Can you ask him to say hello to Commander Hamid? And maybe he could help me get some furniture? I can’t keep sleeping on a haystack…”
After saying this, he hurriedly…
“I don’t have any daily necessities,” Mr. Su said. “I don’t even have a tea cup or a toothbrush. Can you let my daughter buy some things for me in China and send them over?”
Zhao Yinsheng laughed lightly. “Mr. Su, I’m not trying to criticize you. You know a lot. But tell me, which delivery company in China would you trust to send things to Syria?”
