Chapter: 2887
In Mai Chengxing’s heart, he felt a strong dislike for cooperating with evil people. However, he didn’t want to offend Xuan Fengnian, so he nodded and said, “Of course! We both have our strengths. Working together will help us learn from each other.”
“Exactly!” Xuan Fengnian replied with a slight smile. “In that case, Mr. Mai, please find a way to get close to Su Zhiyu tomorrow. I will send you the address later.”
“Okay,” Mai Chengxing agreed and then asked, “Is there anything else, Master Xuan?”
“Nothing else,” Xuan Fengnian said with a smile. “Mr. Mai, I appreciate you coming all this way. I was worried someone might overhear our conversation, so I hope you don’t mind.”
Mai Chengxing sneered inwardly. He could see through Xuan Fengnian’s intentions. The man wasn’t really worried about being overheard; he just wanted to use the security guard from earlier to intimidate him.
Still, Mai Chengxing didn’t want to cause trouble. He quickly replied, “You’re too kind, Master Xuan. I understand you have a responsibility to Mr. Su.”
Then he asked, “Are you planning to head back to the city? If so, I can have my great-grandson call a car for us to go back together. If you prefer to go alone, that’s fine too.”
“No need,” Xuan Fengnian said, pointing at the corpse on the ground with a sneer. “The blood of this dead person is valuable to me. I can use it to strengthen my magic weapon. If I leave now, it would be a waste. Please go ahead, Mr. Mai.”
Mai Chengxing chuckled and bowed slightly. “If that’s the case, I understand.”
The old man will return first,” Xuan Fengnian said with a smile. He then added in a serious tone, “Mr. Mai, you’re to blame for the delays in my plans to get rich!”
Mai Chengxing felt a pang of fear at his words and quickly replied, “Master Xuan, don’t worry. The old man will do his best!” He then turned to Mike, who looked pale, and said, “Mike, say goodbye to Master Xuan.”
Mike snapped back to reality and bowed, saying, “Goodbye, Master Xuan!”
Xuan Fengnian smiled and nodded slightly.
Mai Chengxing hurriedly took Mike and led him out of the cemetery.
After they walked a few hundred meters, Mike quietly said, “Grandpa…”
But Mai Chengxing quickly shushed him, whispering, “Don’t say anything. Just go home!”
Mike wisely stayed silent. What he had just witnessed shook his understanding of the world he’d known for over 20 years. He felt weak in the legs, as if he couldn’t stand.
Following his grandfather’s suggestion, Mike called a taxi. They walked together for a long time before finally managing to stop one.
Once inside the car, Mike curled up in his seat, looking as if he’d just been through something serious.
Mai Chengxing felt uneasy too. He thought to himself, “This trip to Huaxia Guo might have been a mistake. I wanted to find opportunities, but I forgot about the risks. Xuan Fengnian is far too dangerous. We need to be very careful.”
The grandfather and grandson returned to Buckingham Palace in silence, both lost in their thoughts about the unsettling experience they had just faced.
It was a tense moment for the grandfather and grandson. They were worried their conversation might be overheard by the taxi driver. After all, the cemetery had fresh graves, and soon others would learn about the deaths. It wouldn’t be long before an investigation could start. They both wanted to avoid any police involvement.
What they didn’t realize was that Chen Zekai’s men, along with the two young members of the He family, had started to take control of the situation in secret.
