- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 6867
In remote villages and towns in Morocco, workers often feel they have no rights. They believe they should be grateful for any job they can get and must leave if their boss asks them to. Even when it comes to pay, they think that simply receiving wages is a privilege.
There are no formal contracts between the workers and the companies, so no one wants to upset the factory boss just to keep their job. So, when the factory director firmly told everyone to return to work right away, no one hesitated. They hurried from their homes, using various forms of transportation to get to the factory.
They didn’t feel upset about returning early from a short vacation; instead, they were relieved to have had a few days off and were eager to get back to work.
A few key employees arrived first and noticed that many of the production lines in the factory had been taken apart. Confused, they asked the factory director, “Boss, didn’t that Asian guy say he wanted to buy and upgrade our factory? Why is everything dismantled now?” They felt it wasn’t as good as before.
Initially, Li Yalin, the Asian investor, had instructed the boss to tell the workers that the factory was only collaborating with him and not selling. The workers were curious about why the promised upgrades had suddenly stopped but weren’t surprised that the boss was still in charge.
The factory director saw that this approach made it easier for employees to think they still had a connection to the factory. So he explained, “There is a problem with the Asian investor’s funding…”
“I went back to raise money,” he said. “He won’t be able to return soon, and we can’t keep waiting for him. If he can’t get the funds, the factory won’t let him become a shareholder. That’s why I asked you to come back and continue the work.”
With that, the factory director instructed, “Quickly gather experienced workers to start the production line. I’ve already arranged for the supplier at the dock to send several carts of sardines this afternoon. We need those sardines today.”
Canned sardines aren’t complicated to make, and the old production line doesn’t require advanced technology. For the employees who have worked here for many years, assembling this outdated line is even easier than putting together a bicycle with gears.
A group of male workers, led by skilled technicians, immediately began to set up the production line. By late afternoon, several worn-out refrigerated trucks arrived from the dock, and the workers began to skillfully prepare the fresh sardines.
Before long, smoke was rising from the boiler used to cook the canned sardines on the line. After several quiet days, the sardine canning factory was buzzing with activity again.
Charlie Wade and Li Yalin waited in their vehicles, feeling relieved as the factory reopened.
