- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 6944
Charlie Wade noticed that Tawana was momentarily speechless, so he said, “Miss Sweet, if my question is too hard to answer, you don’t have to respond. But I do need you to answer this one clearly.”
Tawana quickly replied, “Just tell me.”
Charlie asked her, “Do you believe illegal immigrants and LGBT people are equal? Just answer yes or no.”
Tawana felt a bit confused. Saying they are equal seemed unreasonable. Most Americans don’t support illegal immigration. In fact, many people around the world feel the same way about immigrants who enter their countries unlawfully.
However, she knew it wasn’t something she could say openly. In the West, there are many things you can’t openly criticize. For example, it’s normal for a woman to feel uncomfortable about a man dressed as a woman using the same restroom. This feeling is valid, but expressing it can lead to backlash. People might argue that the man is already facing hardships, and they might accuse you of lacking compassion for not allowing him in.
Tawana had grown up in this kind of environment and had become a superstar. She understood the unspoken rules well. So, she reluctantly said, “I think illegal immigrants and LGBT people are equal. After all, we are all human beings and should be treated equally.”
Charlie nodded and said, “It’s great that you have this attitude. I think someone should record our conversation and share it online to show that you support…”
Tawana often speaks up for LGBTQ rights at her concerts, which I admire. However, I noticed she doesn’t mention illegal immigrants in the same way. I asked her, “If you believe illegal immigrants and LGBTQ people deserve equal attention, why haven’t I heard you speak about illegal immigrants at your concerts? Where do they get a voice?”
Tawana replied, “It’s not just LGBTQ folks and illegal immigrants who need support; there are many other minority groups that require attention too. It’s hard for me to cover everything during a concert.”
I nodded and said, “I understand that, but let’s focus on the present. You have a concert tonight. Can you use your platform to speak out for illegal immigrants? Can you urge states in the U.S. and around the world to improve their laws and offer better support for them?”
Without waiting for Tawana’s answer, Marven jumped in, “I’ve heard that illegal immigrants in the U.S. often have no money and face huge medical bills when they need care. Some go to a doctor, and after just a few minutes of talking, they get a bill for thousands of dollars. That’s so unfair! In our country, a lung cancer surgery costs only a few thousand dollars. It’s shocking that doctors in the U.S. charge so much just for a brief conversation. Tawana, you should really call on the U.S. government to use taxpayer money to help these illegal immigrants.”
“Complete medical treatment, humanitarian assistance, a comfortable living environment, enough food, and free medical care—what do you think?”
Tawana was stunned.
First, she didn’t expect Charlie Wade to bring up such a complicated topic. Second, she was shocked by the amazing things Charlie had just suggested.
Did he really want to ask the U.S. government to use taxpayer money to support illegal immigrants? Did he think they needed to be healthy, strong, and free from problems to qualify?
