- The Amazing Son-in-Law [The Charismatic Charlie Wade] (Chinese name) Chapter: 6957
Charlie Wade was thought to be Tawanna’s bodyguard, but nobody expected him to be a fake. This revelation made everyone cautious, wondering why Charlie insisted on getting into the car.
Charlie held Tawanna close and gave her a thumbs up, saying coldly, “Okay, you need to think fast.”
Peter Roger glared at Charlie and demanded, “Who are you?! If you’re not Miss Sweet’s bodyguard, get out of the car right now!”
Peter was furious and wanted to harm Charlie, but he knew that causing more trouble wasn’t wise. With Trevor already a problem, adding Charlie to the mix would only complicate things further. It would be better if Charlie left willingly.
Charlie looked straight at Peter and said firmly, “Alright, I won’t pretend anymore. I really doubt you’re a CIA agent. Let’s see what you’re up to. If you don’t convince me, I’ll have Mr. Mitsui reach out to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs or the U.S. Embassy in Japan to verify your claims. How does that sound?”
Peter’s heart sank.
Things had gone smoothly for him because he had prepared well, using forged documents that looked real. His reasons were carefully crafted, relying on common knowledge that everyone accepted, making it seem reasonable for the CIA to investigate Tawanna at that moment.
But if Mitsui Yoshitaka made a call to the Japanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he would quickly discover that Peter’s whole story was a scam. And Peter didn’t want Charlie to find that out.
Wade was determined not to let Charlie leave the car again. He acted like he was annoyed and said, “I’ve already shown you all the documents. If you’re still worried, you’ll understand everything once we get to the embassy and meet the ambassador.”
He glanced at his watch and added seriously, “We can’t waste any more time. Washington is waiting. Let’s get going! We can talk more once we’re at the embassy.”
Charlie smiled and decided not to argue. He casually replied, “If you won’t let me out, I’ll just sit in the last row.”
Then he turned to Tawanna and said with a grin, “Since Miss Sweet seems to be thinking so fast, why not carefully analyze our situation? What do you think I’m doing here?”
Tawanna didn’t see anything strange about his words. She simply glared at him and turned away, ignoring him.
Charlie chuckled and kept moving. After passing the third row, he settled into a first-class seat at the right side of the last row.
At that moment, two young men got out of a Ministry of Foreign Affairs car and quickly boarded the Toyota bus. Peter Roger spoke to one of them, saying, “Go to the last row and keep an eye on that man. We need to make sure he doesn’t interfere with our investigation.”
The man frowned, understanding Peter Roger’s serious tone. When Peter used the word “must,” it meant that the person in question had to be eliminated to prevent any complications.
