“What are you afraid of?” Angelo laughed. “Don’t those priests always say ‘God bless you’? Only a few of them have ended up in prison. What does that show? Brothers who understand will understand, hahahahahaha!”
“Ha ha!”
The group laughed together for a while.
Twenty minutes later, the private doctor walked in with a list. He turned to Hank and said, “Sir, your routine blood test results are in, and everything looks normal! Even your blood sugar and lipid levels are better than last time! Overall, you’re in better shape than during your last check-up.”
Hank smiled and replied, “I haven’t had much of an appetite lately. I’m practically fasting every day, so it makes sense my levels would drop.”
The doctor smiled back, “It seems you’ve been worried about some rumors lately, but don’t stress. You won’t have to worry after today.”
Hank nodded, “I hope everything stays alright.”
An hour later, the heart-related blood tests came back, and the doctor confirmed that everything was normal and very healthy.
Hank felt even happier and shared the good news with the group.
His friends, who had promised to stay with him, kept their word. No one went to sleep or took a break; they all waited together for the results of Hank’s tests.
Later that night, the results of the toxin test were ready.
The private doctor, looking pleased, said, “Sir, the toxin test shows that there is no poison in your body. You’re very healthy!”
Hank didn’t feel joyful; instead, he asked in disappointment, “Are you sure I wasn’t poisoned at all?”
Hank was anxious to find out if he had been poisoned. He believed that knowing the cause of his illness was the first step toward fixing it.
“What if we can’t find out?” he thought to himself. That would be a big problem. Without a clear diagnosis, there was no way to start treatment.
The doctor, noticing Hank’s disappointment, tried to explain. “Most poisons we know about can be quickly detected. If we can’t find anything, it doesn’t necessarily mean you’re not poisoned. It just means that it could be a toxin that we haven’t discovered yet.”
“Isn’t that frustrating?” Hank frowned. “If I really have an undiscovered poison, then there’s no way to get rid of it, right?”
The doctor nodded. “In theory, yes. However, there’s a chance that your body could be dealing with the poison on its own. Your immune system and metabolism might be working to remove it, even if you don’t realize it.”
Hank sighed. “That can’t be true for me. If I were poisoned, I would know when it’s gone.”
He decided not to tell the doctor about his recent issue with impotence. He wanted to wait for the test results first, hoping they might reveal the cause of his problems. If they found something, maybe a direct treatment could help him. If not, he would rely on the doctor to figure it out.
