The private doctor quickly said, “Mr. Hank, it’s a bit too soon to say you’re completely cured. We need to wait for your CA199 test results to confirm that.”
Hank replied, “When will the results be ready? Please hurry them up.”
The doctor explained, “This is already the fastest process. Your blood tests and reactions take time. You can rest for a while, and by morning, you should feel almost well.”
Just then, Johnson knocked on the door and entered with a smile. “Mr. Hank, I have great news! Your CT scan shows that your pancreas has recovered!”
Hank asked, “Aren’t we still waiting for the CA199 results?”

Johnson smiled and said, “Yes, we will have to wait, but I believe there’s an 80% chance of success.”
He then approached Hank with curiosity. “Mr. Hank, can you tell us what treatment you received? In all my years of practicing medicine, I’ve never seen such an impressive treatment plan. Did China discover something new in medical care?”
Hank waved his hand dismissively. “Don’t ask, it’s not worth it. One billion US dollars for one treatment—how many people can afford that?”
“One billion dollars?!” Johnson exclaimed, stunned. “You spent one billion dollars to treat pancreatic cancer in China?”
“Yes,” Hank replied, feeling a sting in his heart.
He thought about how both cancer treatment and impotence treatment cost a billion dollars, but it seemed the cancer treatment was the better investment now.
Johnson was taken aback and said, “One billion dollars could buy a whole hospital…”
Then he quickly asked, “Mr. Hank, what kind of treatment did they give you that was so costly? Is it a new kind of equipment? Or some new type of…”
Hank looked puzzled and asked, “Targeted special medicine? Who else should I ask?”
Johnson quickly responded, “Think back to your treatment in China. What was the environment like? Did they take you to a room with a lot of medical equipment, like our CT or radiotherapy rooms?”
Hank shook his head. “No, the treatment was in a private room at a hotel.”
“A hotel room?!” Johnson exclaimed. “That can’t be right. There are strict requirements for treatment environments. It’s impossible to treat someone in a hotel room!”
Hank shrugged. “You might not believe me, but that’s where it happened.”
Johnson pressed on, “If it really was a hotel room, there shouldn’t have been any professional equipment. Did they give you any special medicine?”
“No,” Hank replied calmly. “There was no oral medication or medical equipment. They just talked to me, said some nonsense, and then told me I could leave. So I did.”
Johnson was shocked. “This can’t be! You were allowed to leave without any treatment?”
Hank responded, “But my cancer cells are gone, right? My cancer is gone, too. So they must have treated me somehow, even if I don’t understand it.”
Johnson murmured, “But that doesn’t make sense. If they made your cancer disappear, they must have done something directly. From what you said, it sounds like they did nothing.”
Hank replied, “This might be about Eastern metaphysics. Don’t we in the West have our own beliefs?”
“What is this metaphysics?” Hank asked. “Throwing a cross into water makes it holy and can drive away demons. We might think it’s just a myth, but if we ever face the devil, it could actually work.”
Johnson replied awkwardly, “Those are just legends from stories and movies. When it comes to health, we should trust science…”
Hank waved him off. “Fine, believe in your science. I’m really tired these past few days and need some rest. Just make sure to tell me as soon as the CA199 results come out.”
Johnson understood that Hank wanted him to leave, but he was reluctant to go without getting more information. “Mr. Hank, could you recommend the doctor who treated you? I’d like to visit him if I can.”
Hank sneered to himself, thinking, “If I introduce you to Charlie Wade, I don’t know how Charlie will react. Plus, you won’t get anything useful from him.”
He waved his hand dismissively. “Don’t ask so many questions. He’s an expert from another world and won’t meet with you.”
After saying this, Hank winked at his personal doctor.
The doctor stepped forward and said to Johnson, “Doctor Johnson, Mr. Hank needs to rest. You should leave now.”
