“Have you explained it to me?”
Tawanna immediately questioned the agent, “How did you explain it?”
The agent sighed and replied, “I could only say that you were deeply moved by the song and overly immersed in its storyline. After all, you’re a professional singer and fully committed to your performances.”
Tawanna responded coolly, “Honestly, I don’t like this song that much. It’s not as good as the ones I write myself.”
The agent looked slightly embarrassed.

Tawanna had always been very confident—some might say arrogant—about her music.
After all, she was nothing like Gu Qiuyi. Qiuyi wasn’t a music major and couldn’t write or compose her own songs, unlike Tawanna, who created nearly all her own material.
Singer-songwriters typically don’t think highly of others’ work—especially not someone like Tawanna, whose songwriting talent was considered world-class in the pop scene.
Knowing her personality well, the agent whispered, “This explanation is the best option right now. If a scandal breaks out, public criticism will turn on you. Don’t forget, you have a boyfriend, and the public sees your relationship as steady.”
Tawanna waved him off irritably. “I know. Just handle future issues along those lines.”
Then she asked, “Where are Mr. Wade and Miss Gu?”
“In the dressing room,” he answered.
“Okay.”
Tawanna didn’t want to waste time on the conversation and quickly made her way to the dressing room.
Inside, Gu Qiuyi and Charlie had just resolved the situation that had left Charlie feeling a bit awkward.
Gu Qiuyi was especially happy because she had just kissed Charlie. She didn’t keep pressuring him, which gave him some relief—he was still struggling to get his emotions in check. After all, that passionate kiss had lasted quite a while, and it was his first time experiencing something like that.
Just then, Tawanna knocked on the door.
“Come in,” Gu Qiuyi immediately responded.
Tawanna pushed the door open and entered.
Qiuyi smiled at her and said, “Congratulations, Tawanna! Today’s performance was amazing! I think it’s your best concert yet!”
“Yes!” Tawanna replied excitedly. “I feel the same! I’ve never performed with such energy before. I gave my all to every single song!”
She then glanced awkwardly at Charlie, who was silently standing to the side, and said, a bit embarrassed, “Mr. Wade, I’m really sorry—I got a little carried away on stage today.”
Earlier, when Charlie had just come off stage, he felt embarrassed by the situation. But after what Gu Qiuyi had put him through, Tawanna’s actions didn’t seem like a big deal anymore.
He responded calmly, “It’s okay, I understand. Just make sure it doesn’t happen again—otherwise, I won’t go on stage next time.”
Tawanna hadn’t expected to kiss Charlie through the mask even once, let alone more. She was content with just that moment, so she quickly reassured him, “Don’t worry, Mr. Wade, it won’t happen again!”
Gu Qiuyi smiled and said, “Tawanna, it’s getting late. We need to head back. Get some rest tonight—we’ve got another show tomorrow.”
Tawanna nodded and asked, “Qiuyi, do you and Mr. Wade have any plans the day after tomorrow? I’d like to take that day off. I want to explore Eastcliff—climb the Great Wall, visit the Forbidden City, things like that.”
Qiuyi chuckled and said, “If you’re going to climb the Great Wall, you’ll probably need at least a few dozen bodyguards. Otherwise, your fans will swarm you.”
Tawanna asked, “Then what if I go in disguise?”
Qiuyi replied, smiling, “That would be tough.”
Gu Qiuyi shook her head and said, “You’re a foreigner, so you naturally stand out. Plus, your fans will easily recognize your features. Even if you’re completely covered up, someone is bound to spot you.”
“What should I do…” Tawanna said with a hint of disappointment. “I really want to look around and explore.”
Gu Qiuyi smiled and said, “You can still go—just do it openly. But you’ll have no privacy. I can go with you, but Brother Charlie definitely can’t.”
Charlie nodded in agreement. “It’s good for you two to go out, have fun, explore a bit. Let Tawanna’s international fans see what real China looks like—it’ll stir up some excitement.”
Tawanna asked in confusion, “Mr. Wade, why can’t you come with us? You’re also part of the team.”
Charlie smiled and replied, “And what’s my role? Feng Shui Director! I’m responsible for the Feng Shui layout of the concert venues. Normally, how could I justify tagging along to the Great Wall or the Forbidden City? Those places represent centuries—even millennia—of Chinese history. The Forbidden City was a royal palace. It’s not my place, as a Feng Shui expert, to walk around giving random commentary.”
Gu Qiuyi chimed in, laughing, “Exactly! It would be odd for Brother Charlie to come sightseeing with us. His wife would be confused for sure. Plus, he doesn’t like appearing in public. If he came along, it would definitely end up all over the internet.”
“I see…”
Tawanna felt a bit disappointed.
She had hoped to use the downtime to arrange a casual outing with Charlie and Gu Qiuyi—mainly as a chance to spend more time around Charlie.
But as it turned out, Charlie still preferred to stay out of sight.
That made her feel somewhat frustrated with her identity as a celebrity. There was just no such thing as private time.
If she and Gu Qiuyi weren’t celebrities, the three of them could go anywhere casually without drawing attention.
Feeling a bit helpless, she turned to Gu Qiuyi and said, “Then let’s go together. I believe that after tonight, we’ll be trending in a lot of hot searches. Let’s strike while the iron is hot and play up the ‘best friends’ label in front of the media. It’s the perfect chance to promote China.”
As she spoke, she looked seriously at Charlie and said, “Mr. Wade, many of the portrayals of China by Western media are completely unfounded. I never held a concert here before because I was misled by those views. I used to think China was backward, poor, and closed off. But now that I’ve come here, I see it’s actually a very friendly, open, developed, and modern country. Most importantly, it has a rich history and culture. If I can help Western audiences see the real China, it’ll feel like I’ve helped clear its name.”
Charlie was a bit surprised by Tawanna’s words. He smiled and said, “It’s great that you feel that way. I’ll have our team start spreading the word on short video platforms to bring in more popular bloggers to do live streams.”
Tawanna nodded enthusiastically. “No problem. I’ve got two or three free days before heading to Shanghai. I’ll explore more of Eastcliff during that time.”
At that moment, Tawanna seemed to have found her angle. With a smile, she added, “Maybe I should find a way to do live broadcasts in different cities across China and show the world the most authentic side of each one!”
Charlie gave her a thumbs-up and grinned, “Great idea. If the Chinese government invites you to be a tourism ambassador, you have to accept!”
Tawanna responded without hesitation, “If they invite me, I’ll definitely accept! It would be an honor!”
