Chapter 4950
“Why not? Lead the way…” Kai said calmly. He understood that since this Crazy Immortal had appeared in the purgatory, he must be far more familiar with its inner workings than he was.
Fengxian nodded. “Follow me…”
With that, the Crazy Immortal led Kai deeper into the purgatory.
Kai wasn’t worried. Having reached the ninth level of the Immortal Realm, he no longer feared encountering a strong opponent from the Loose Immortal Realm.
Although he couldn’t determine exactly what stage Fengxian was at within the Loose Immortal Realm, the fact that he had already defeated him gave Kai confidence.

Moreover, Kai had several trump cards: the Fire Qilin, the Sky-Devouring Beast, and the Red Cloud Demon Lord hidden in his sea of consciousness.
If push came to shove, these forces could be unleashed to assist him.
The moment the Sky-Devouring Beast appeared, it would be enough to terrify any enemy. If the Red Cloud Demon Lord possessed him again, Kai was confident he would have no rival within the first level of heaven.
Meanwhile, outside the purgatory, the city lord, the Gadfly, watched Kai’s tall figure through the bronze mirror, his heart filled with anticipation.
He knew that this young man, blessed with the blood of the Golden Dragon, would bring about monumental changes to Rhino City—and possibly the entire beast tribe.
Gadfly had already made up his mind. Once Kai exited the purgatory, he would befriend him and see if he could rely on Kai’s strength to make Rhino City even greater.
At that moment, Kai followed the Crazy Immortal, advancing into the depths of the purgatory.
The deeper they ventured, the more terrifying and eerie the atmosphere between heaven and earth became.
Yet strangely, they encountered no demon corpses or evil spirits along the way, even though the surrounding evil energy grew noticeably stronger.
However, Kai refrained from absorbing it. No matter how thick the evil energy in the air was, it couldn’t compare to the speed and efficiency of killing demon corpses and directly absorbing their energy.
Kai was the perfect example of someone who, after tasting fine grains, had no desire to return to coarse ones.
As the two continued walking, Kai suddenly noticed a vast stretch of blood-red land ahead.
Even the sky and earth were tinted crimson, causing Kai to frown deeply.
At the same time, an unsettling energy began to stir within his body.
Fengxian gazed at the area before them, his expression filled with emotion as he explained, “Ahead lies a mass grave filled with countless corpses and evil spirits. There’s a special restriction there, making that place completely different from the rest of purgatory.”
“Moreover, the evil spirits trapped there have no way to escape. They can only linger endlessly within that area…”
“Have you been inside?” Kai asked.
The Crazy Immortal nodded, then shook his head, leaving Kai puzzled.
“If you have, you have. If you haven’t, you haven’t. So, which is it?” Kai asked impatiently.
The Crazy Immortal gave a bitter laugh and said, “My physical body couldn’t pass through the restriction, so I entered only with my spiritual consciousness. Fortunately, I withdrew almost immediately. Otherwise, I would’ve been trapped and turned into an evil spirit—or worse, a walking corpse.”
“How long have you been trapped in this purgatory?” Kai pressed.
“I can’t say for sure… it must have been many, many years,” Fengxian replied after thinking for a moment.
“Then do you know how this purgatory came to be? I noticed that all the corpses here belong to demons, yet now this is considered beastman territory,” Kai asked curiously.
Fengxian nodded and said, “Originally, this land belonged to the demons. But the demons from two major cities fought each other mercilessly and ended up destroying themselves here.”
“I heard that a demon cultivator at the peak of the Scattered Immortal Realm later descended from the Third Heaven, quelled the chaos, and sealed the battlefield.”
“Over time, through annexation and migration, this place gradually became the territory of the beastmen.”
“The discovery of this purgatory brought tremendous benefits to Rhino City. Many beastmen from other cities are willing to pay high prices just to come here for trials.”
