After that command, the remaining soldiers all charged out of the prison.

Kai and his two companions kept up the pursuit, relentlessly cutting down soldiers every minute.

Kai moved with incredible speed, and his Dragon Slashing Sword was even faster.

Blades of sword energy followed him like shadows, continuously slaying the fleeing enemies.

The soldiers neared the prison gate—if they managed to get outside, they could quickly alert the city’s forces.

If that happened and the prison was surrounded, any hope of escape for Kai and his group would vanish.

“Don’t even think about escaping…”

Kai flicked his fingertips, and a formation symbol materialized in the air before flashing brightly.

In the next instant, a barrier formation appeared at the prison gate. When the soldiers reached it, they were instantly knocked back by a powerful force.

Seeing this, the soldiers’ expressions turned grim.

“You, break the formation by force! The rest of you, fight with me!” the captain shouted, still trying to coordinate a response.

He ordered a group to dismantle the formation while he led the others to block Kai and his allies.

They only needed to hold on until the barrier was broken.

Several soldiers began attacking the formation with brute force, while the captain stood his ground, facing Kai and his group with cold eyes.

“Why are you trying to kill us all? Even if you wipe us out, there are countless soldiers outside this prison—you still won’t escape,” the captain questioned sharply.

Kai replied coldly, “When you slaughtered those from the human race, did you ever stop to ask why you wanted to kill them all?”

As his words fell, Kai vanished in an instant. A flash of light followed—the Dragon Slaying Sword cut straight toward the captain.

With a savage expression, the captain roared, “Then let’s fight!”

The three figures surged forward and stormed the group of soldiers once more.

In less than the time it takes to burn a stick of incense, the sound of battle fell completely silent.
Fengxian and Bai Yi sat on the ground, panting heavily. Both were completely exhausted.

Kai had also expended a great deal of energy, but he could still keep going.

He was seen rummaging through the fallen soldiers, collecting any storage bags or useful supplies he could find.

Over a hundred soldiers had been slain by Kai and his team.

But it had taken immense effort to defeat just that many.

The thought of facing tens of thousands of soldiers was something Kai didn’t even dare to entertain.

Fortunately, the Gadfly had led the troops of Rhino City in an assault on Feihu City.

He believed that most of the soldiers would have been redeployed by Jie Zhong to defend against that attack.

At that moment, Aisha appeared, and behind her followed thousands of human cultivators.

They all looked to be in their prime. It seemed the elderly, weak, women, and children had already been killed.

The remaining able-bodied were likely kept alive to be used as slaves.

Aisha stared at the fallen soldiers in disbelief and asked, “You killed all of them?”

Kai nodded. “Yes. Every last one of them.”

Fengxian glanced at the human cultivators and let out a cold snort. “Thousands of you were slaughtered by a little over a hundred soldiers, and not one of you resisted. It’s pathetic—truly pathetic.”

“Do you know why you human cultivators are seen as weak and always end up being bullied?”

“It’s because each of you only thinks of yourselves. No one is willing to stand up. That’s how a mere hundred soldiers butchered thousands of you.”

“Even if you’re just ordinary people, even if you can’t defeat them, you could at least spit in their faces and show some dignity.”

“The tragedy is that you humans are too clever—so clever that you outsmart yourselves.”

Fengxian’s words pierced deep into the hearts of the human cultivators like steel needles.

It was true—they had become numb. No one dared resist.

In this beast prison, resisting often meant death. Enduring offered at least a slim chance of survival.

That very mindset was what allowed just over a hundred soldiers to massacre so many human cultivators.
