An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2283
“Oh no! Crystal’s in danger!” Miles jumped up, his eyes wide with fear as he watched Aurora’s terrifying attack.
Aurora’s power was more intense than he had imagined. Her strike felt like that of a grandmaster.
“Crystal, hang in there!” Ruby called out, clenching her teeth as she watched. She looked calm, but inside, she was just as tense as Miles.
This match was no longer just about winning or losing; it was about life and death. One wrong move could be deadly.
“I didn’t expect Aurora to improve so fast,” Fenley said, nodding in approval. “She’s getting close to grandmaster level.”
Aurora and Alicia were both skilled in martial arts. But Alicia wasn’t as dedicated to her training. Even though she was two years older, Aurora’s strength had already surpassed her.
“Yes,” Alicia said with a proud smile. “She’s halfway to becoming a grandmaster, and her Phoenix Dance technique is really impressive. Few can match her when she’s at her best.”
“I’m not worried about her,” Fenley replied, glancing at Alicia. “I’m more concerned about you. You need to train harder and help lighten the guildmaster’s load.”
“Okay, I understand. I promise I’ll work harder from now on,” she said playfully.
Fenley shook his head in frustration but didn’t say anything. Even with her playful attitude and occasional laziness, Alicia was the most valued member of the Celestial Alliance.
In the battle ring, Aurora used her Ennea Chorus technique, surrounding Crystal completely. With no way to escape, Crystal focused her energy on her sword and thrust it toward the phoenix.
“Conquest Breaker!” she shouted.
Her sword shone with brilliance as her energy transformed it into a giant silver blade. It was nearly 33 feet long and 6 feet wide, wrapping around her. In that moment, the sword and its wielder became one.
As the phoenix swooped down, a giant sword shot up to meet it. The collision created a loud explosion that shook the ground. The fiery red phoenix shattered, and the silver sword broke apart.
In that moment, a powerful wave of energy spread out from the impact, darkening the sky and stirring up dust everywhere.
The strong winds rushed through the crowd, lifting their hair and making their robes flap wildly. People struggled to keep their eyes open against the force of the gusts.
“Such incredible power! This attack rivals a grandmaster’s duel,” someone exclaimed.
“I can’t believe two women are fighting with such skill. It’s truly impressive,” another person added.
“This Combat Tournament has brought together the best fighters. Every moment has been worth it,” a spectator shared.
As the aftershocks continued, the crowd murmured in awe.
Aurora’s Ennea Chorus technique was indeed powerful, matching the skill of a grandmaster. But Crystal’s final move, Conquest Breaker, was just as impressive. It was hard to tell who was winning.
When the dust finally settled and the winds calmed, the two women on the battle ring became visible. The spectators gasped at the sight.
Aurora and Crystal stood only six feet apart, staring each other down. Crystal held her sword with one hand, its tip pressed against Aurora’s throat, drawing a trickle of blood down her collar.
Meanwhile, Aurora held her crescent blade in a slashing position, just three inches from Crystal’s chest.
In a normal situation, that distance could be closed in a heartbeat. One quick move could take a life.
Aurora could easily reach Crystal with a longer weapon, but now, just three inches felt like an impossible distance.
If Aurora moved her blade forward by three inches, it would just barely touch Crystal’s skin. But if Crystal pushed her sword forward by the same amount, it would cut off Aurora’s head. This made it clear just how close she was to death.
In that moment, it was obvious what would happen.
“You—” Aurora frowned, staring at the sword held at her neck. She wanted to say something but ended up sighing instead.
With a heavy heart, she lowered her crescent blade and said, “I surrender.”
Aurora realized that if Crystal hadn’t shown mercy and pulled back her sword, she would already be dead. Crystal would walk away with just a small injury.
It hit Aurora hard: she was no match for Crystal.
