An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2295
“Corpse?” Bill laughed, dismissing the idea.
“Father, you’re exaggerating. Vampires are immortal. Even the best martial artists from Dragonmarsh couldn’t defeat me.”
He didn’t mention that the holy laws of the Holy Sovereign Church, while strong against vampires, wouldn’t be enough to stop him. Even Jeremiah wouldn’t be able to catch him if he decided to run away.
“Mr. Wolfe, your vampire abilities are impressive, but you are not immortal. If you were, the Coven of Blood Eclipse wouldn’t serve the Hall of Gods,” Jeremiah replied calmly.
He continued, “And don’t underestimate the martial artists from Dragonmarsh. We’ve faced them many times and haven’t always won. If you keep being arrogant and careless, you will face serious consequences.”
Bill, still inexperienced as an aristocrat, didn’t realize how dangerous Dragonmarsh could be. His previous encounter with a group of young elites had been easy compared to what could happen with the older, stronger fighters.
“Father, I hope you’re not scared of those martial artists. Your title, ‘The Dust of Angel,’ doesn’t seem as impressive as the stories say,” Bill sneered.
As a vampire from a noble family, he looked down on human martial artists and assumed Jeremiah felt the same. But he was disappointed to learn that Jeremiah had actually run away from a group of young fighters.
“Bill, you’d better be careful with your words. If you disrespect Father again, I might just silence you for good!” George warned, his voice low and threatening.
Unbeknownst to Bill,
George had seen Jeremiah’s terrifying strength up close. A few years ago, he was just as cocky as Bill until Jeremiah taught him a harsh lesson that humbled him.
“Don’t get too cocky, gorilla! You really think I’m scared of you?” Bill shouted, showing his teeth and standing aggressively.
As the Shadow Prince, Bill was used to getting his way in Esmington. After losing a previous fight and now feeling threatened by George, his patience was wearing thin.
“Hmph! If you’re unhappy, let’s settle this with a fight!” George said, clenching his fists.
His muscles bulged, making him look even more intimidating. A wave of fierce energy surrounded him, like a storm crashing on the shore. The wind howled, and the temperature dropped suddenly.
Bill’s expression shifted slightly. He hadn’t expected George to challenge him and wondered if George was truly unafraid of the Coven of Blood Eclipse’s revenge.
“That’s enough!” Jeremiah’s voice suddenly broke through the tension. An unseen force diminished George’s intimidating presence.
“We’re allies now. Our goal is to work together against the Dragonmarsh martial artists, not to argue among ourselves. Save your energy for tomorrow’s match,” he said coldly.
“Yes, Father,” George replied, lowering his head and stepping back.
Bill, annoyed, turned and walked away, realizing that George and Jeremiah were clearly on the same side. He figured sticking around would only bring him more trouble.
“I just don’t understand. With so many experts in the Coven of Blood Eclipse, why send this spoiled brat to the front lines? He’s just a headache for us,” George complained as he watched Bill walk away.
The so-called Shadow Prince was using his father’s reputation to boss others around.
Esmington was not particularly talented, but he had a well-known bad temper.
“Bill is set to inherit the Coven of Blood Eclipse. He was sent to Dragonmarsh to serve the Hall of Gods, but that’s just a cover to make him look good,” Jeremiah explained.
He added, “If he shines in this tournament, he’ll gain more respect in the Coven of Blood Eclipse. This will make it easier for him to become the Shadow Master in the future.”
“Does Bill really think he can become the Shadow Master? That’s ridiculous!” George laughed, shaking his head.
He continued, “The werewolves have been growing stronger and can now match the vampires. The new generation of werewolf leaders is even tougher. They respect strength, and they would never accept a weak leader like Bill.”
The Coven of Blood Eclipse was not a peaceful group. For centuries, werewolves and vampires had been in constant conflict. It took a strong Shadow Master from the vampires to keep the werewolves in check.
But now, that Shadow Master was nearing the end of his life. When he died, a war between the vampires and werewolves was certain. Bill was not ready for that challenge.
Jeremiah said, “The Coven of Blood Eclipse will face problems soon. This hatred has been building for over a thousand years, and there’s no way to stop it.”
“I just wish those filthy dark creatures would destroy each other. It would be great if they wiped each other out!” He grinned wickedly.
Then, he quickly composed himself and put on a friendly smile. After all, having such dark thoughts wasn’t right for a clergyman. He thought it might be enough to wish for half of them to be gone, since wanting them all gone felt too cruel.
