An Understated Dominance - Chapter 2303
“Great hit!”
“How dare you cause trouble at Sacred Wyrm Summit? Do you have a death wish?”
“If the referee hadn’t held back, that Stormcraft strike would have turned him to dust.”
The crowd cheered as Bill flew through the air.
He was a foreign contestant, someone unknown to the locals, and he should have kept a low profile to avoid trouble. But when Bill arrived, he immediately started shouting and challenging everyone, practically daring someone to take him down. Did this small vampire really think no one in Dragonmarsh could defeat him?
“Curse you, Dragonmarsh martial artists! How dare you ambush me? How cowardly and disgraceful!”
Bill struggled to his feet, his anger boiling inside him. He had wanted to make a strong impression and show off the power of vampires. Instead, he felt humiliated.
He didn’t believe it was because he was weak; he thought Oron’s sudden attack had caught him off guard. Bill was confident he wouldn’t lose in a fair fight.
“Hmph! You still dare to shout here? If Master Oron hadn’t held back, you would already be ashes,” Jermaine shot back.
Earlier, Bill’s teleportation move had surprised Jermaine, but now he was ready.
“Every competition has its rules. If you can’t follow them, I’ll have to ask you to leave,” Oron said coldly.
“Why you—” Bill started to retaliate when a hand landed on his shoulder. He turned to see a man in a clerical robe smiling at him.
The man was Jeremiah Price, also known as The Dust of Angel.
“Mr. Wolfe, don’t forget our mission. If you get kicked out before the match even begins, you’ll have a lot of explaining to do with Mr. Bailey,” Jeremiah warned.
He continued, “If you provoke the experts of Sacred Wyrm Summit, I won’t be able to save you.”
the black wooden box, feeling the cool surface of the balls inside. He took a deep breath, focused, and pulled out a ball.
“Number 17!” he announced, holding it up for everyone to see.
Oron nodded. “Great, you’ll be matched against whoever draws Number 16.”
Next, it was Bill’s turn. He stepped up, trying to hide his anger. He needed to keep it together. He reached into the box and pulled out a ball.
“Number 5,” he said, his voice steady.
Oron noted it down, “You’ll face Number 28.”
One by one, the contestants drew their numbers. Each matchup was determined by luck, and the atmosphere buzzed with excitement and tension. Jeremiah watched carefully, hoping for a good draw for himself.
Finally, Oron looked at the crowd. “Now that the matchups are set, remember: stay focused and play fair. This is a test of skill and strategy.”
As the contestants left the ring, Bill’s mind was racing. He was determined to show everyone his strength and let out the rage that was building inside him.
Jeremiah turned to him, noticing the fire in his eyes. “Just keep your cool, Bill. We have a plan.”
Bill nodded, but deep down, he was ready to unleash his fury in the ring. The competition was about to begin, and he was ready to fight.
Jermaine opened the black box and started searching through the balls inside.
After a few moments, he pulled out a clear glass ball. In the center, there was a white metal disc with a “3” etched into it.
“Looks like I’m in luck. I’m fighting in the third match,” Jermaine said, holding up the glass ball for everyone to see the number.
Competing earlier in the round could give some contestants an advantage. Today’s event was a knockout tournament, going from 32 participants down to 8. The first round would reveal the top 16 competitors, and the second round would cut it down to the top 8. This meant they needed to win two rounds to be taken seriously.
If they fought in the early matches, they would have a long break to recover before their next fight. But if their match was scheduled later, they might have to jump straight into the second round without any rest.
Physical condition often decided the outcome for martial artists of similar skill levels. A contestant who was well-rested usually had a better chance of winning against a tired opponent. So, the order of the matches and the results could greatly influence who won.
