“Don’t bother. It doesn’t matter who it is,” Fenley shook his head. “Taking the easy way out won’t get you far. Winning comes down to your own skills. If you don’t have those, all the preparation is pointless.” He was confident, unbothered about who his opponent might be. Even if it was Glenn, he was ready to face him. Fenley’s goal was to win the tournament, and he knew he had to overcome every strong opponent in his way.

“You’re right,” Aurora agreed. She then turned to Dustin. “And what about you, Dr. Rhys?”

“I drew number eight, just like before,” he replied.

“Do you want me to find out anything for you?” she asked.

“No. I’ll take whatever comes my way,” Dustin said with a slight smile.

Aurora nodded. “Okay. With your skills, making it to the top eight shouldn’t be a problem unless you face someone from the Legendary List.” She remembered seeing him take down a vampire, so she was confident in his abilities. With a bit of luck, he should easily reach the top eight. What happened after that would be up to fate.

Half an hour later, Oron’s voice boomed through the arena. “Break time is over. The first match is about to begin. Let’s welcome contestant number one and contestant number sixteen to the battle ring!”

As soon as he finished speaking, Fenley stood up quickly and made his way to the ring. Moments later, a man dressed in white, with a longsword on his back, rose from the preparation area and walked steadily toward the battle.
