“Me?” Dustin paused, then quickly shook his head. “Ancient Sage, you must be joking. I’m not fit to guard the Dracan force. You should look for someone else.”

He understood that taking on such a huge responsibility was not an option. Guarding the Dracan Force was far more serious than just watching a garden. One mistake could threaten not only Sacred Wyrm Summit but all of Dragonmarsh. The thought was too much to handle.

“Don’t be so quick to say no,” Arion said with a grin.

He added, “Being the guardian of the Dracan force has its advantages. For one, it’s a powerful spiritual entity. If you connect with it, your skills will improve greatly, and you’ll live much longer. With its strength behind you, you will be unstoppable. No one will be able to challenge you.”

Arion was speaking the truth. Being recognized as the guardian of the Dracan force meant access to its immense energy and harmony with nature. It was what people called the realm of terrestrial immortals.

If Alaric had fought Seth a year ago near the Dragon Guard, the result might have been very different.

“Honestly, I’m not suited for responsibilities like that. I’ve always liked a more relaxed life. I’m not really interested in improving my skills or extending my life,” Dustin replied.

“Don’t worry about it. If you’re truly not interested, I won’t pressure you. But if you change your mind, feel free to come find me anytime,” Arion said with a kind smile.

Combat Tournament was supposed to choose a guardian for the Dracan force, but in the end, it was all about personal choice.

Dustin had turned down the role, and Arion respected that. Some things just need the right timing, and Dustin believed everything would work out eventually.

“Thank you for understanding, Ancient Sage,” Dustin said, feeling a wave of relief wash over him. He had been worried that his refusal might upset Arion and result in losing the three Dracan essences.

“If you’re not busy, stay here tonight,” Arion suggested. “I have some things to take care of, so I’ll be leaving now.” After a brief conversation, Arion stood up and departed.

“Farewell, Ancient Sage,” Dustin said, bowing his head in respect.

Once Arion was gone, Dustin felt himself relax. Even though Arion had been friendly and not intimidating, the pressure of his presence had made Dustin cautious, even in how he breathed. Alicia, Aurora, Crystal, Ruby, Dalen, Miles, and the others were all there, ready to join in the festivities.

“Absolutely! Dustin is now the top name on the Legendary List. Even Glenn couldn’t beat him—who else could challenge him now?” Miles praised.

“Thanks, but it was just luck,” Dustin replied humbly. “Come on, everyone, please sit down. Tonight’s on me! Let’s enjoy a nice meal and drinks together.” He smiled at each person as he motioned for them to take a seat.

“Dustin, you’re now the champion of the Combat Tournament. Since you’ve also joined us as an honorary consultant for the Celestial Alliance, I hope you’ll look out for me in the future,” Alicia said, her smile shining brightly. Her beauty and charm made her even more captivating.

“Dr. Rhys, do you take on disciples? I’d like to be one,” Aurora boldly asked, trying to connect with him.
