An Understated Dominance - Chapter 242
“You’re asking for trouble!” shouted the King of Kicks, now fully determined to defeat his opponent. He jumped into the air and unleashed a flurry of flying kicks aimed right at Dustin. This time, he wasn’t just attacking one at a time; his moves were wild and relentless, leaving no room for escape.
“Let’s see how you dodge this!” he cackled as his kicks came faster and covered a wider area. But Dustin stood his ground, unafraid.
“It’s clear who’s going to win,” Maximus said, shaking his head as he prepared to leave. At first, he was impressed by Dustin’s agility, but it didn’t seem enough to match the King of Kicks. No amount of quick moves could protect Dustin from the King’s powerful and random strikes. Faced with true talent, Dustin’s tricks appeared useless.
Suddenly, a loud explosion echoed from the ring. The King of Kicks’ flying legs disappeared, and instead, he found himself stopped mid-kick, his leg pinned right beside Dustin’s ear. But this wasn’t an act of mercy; Dustin had firmly grabbed his leg, locking him in place.
“Did I ever say I’d dodge your attacks?” Dustin grinned, holding onto the King of Kicks’ leg.
“Did he just block that kick?” Maximus, who had been about to leave, froze in shock. He never expected anyone to stop a full-strength attack from the King of Kicks, but Dustin seemed to have done just that with ease. Maximus was confused. Had the King of Kicks held back, or did he underestimate Dustin’s strength?
“How is that possible? How did you block that move?” the old man exclaimed, his eyes wide with disbelief. He knew he had given it his all. While the kick wasn’t his most powerful move, it should have been enough to defeat most fighters.
Dustin was shocked to see the old man holding his powerful leg with just one hand. It was such a strange sight that he couldn’t understand what was happening.
“Is there anything great about that kick of yours? It’s so weak that even a three-year-old could block it,” Dustin said, looking completely unfazed.
“That’s nonsense!” The old man was furious. He jumped into the air, ready to strike again with all his might.
“Hey! You’ve already used your three moves! You lost!” Ruth shouted at the old man, but he ignored her. He aimed to hit Dustin on the head, confident that this time Dustin wouldn’t be able to stop him.
“You never learn, do you?” Dustin scoffed. He raised his arm and blocked the kick without even flinching. The impact created a loud noise, and an invisible shockwave spread through the area, stirring up strong winds. Dustin remained firmly planted on the ground, looking calm and unhurt, though cracks appeared beneath his feet.
Meanwhile, the old man pressed his leg down on Dustin’s arm, trying with all his strength to push him to the ground. No matter how hard he tried, Dustin’s arm stayed still as if it were made of metal.
“Is that all you’ve got?” Dustin raised an eyebrow, looking unimpressed. “Is this really all the King of Kicks can do?”
“No! This can’t be! How could you block that attack? You aren’t even ranked in The Hundred Immortals!” The old man’s face showed pure shock. He believed Dustin wasn’t ranked because he had fought against the top ten.
“The Hundred Immortals?” Dustin chuckled softly. “Let me share a secret: I made it to The Heavenly Immortals ten years ago.”
“The Heavenly Immortals?” The old man was left speechless.
The Heavenly Immortals were far above The Hundred Immortals, and those on that list were the best of the best. It seemed unbelievable that a young man like Dustin could be on that list. The martial artists who reached The Heavenly Immortals were considered divine, at the very least!
“No! That’s impossible! You must be lying!” the old man shouted in disbelief. It was unusual to meet anyone ranked among The Heavenly Immortals, and someone of that caliber wouldn’t be living in a small town like Swinton.
“Watch out for my Phoenix Kick!” the old man exclaimed as he jumped into the air, kicking off the ground. He unleashed a flurry of kicks that created shadows around him, launching a wild attack on Dustin.
“All show and no go!” Dustin replied with a smirk. He delivered a powerful punch to the old man’s foot. With a loud crash, the old man was sent flying like a soccer ball. He hit the ground hard beneath the ring, bleeding from his face and with broken legs.
The crowd fell silent at the sight of the defeated King of Kicks lying on the ground. People stared in shock, unable to believe that the King of Kicks, who was in the top ten of The Hundred Immortals, had lost so quickly and unexpectedly. Some spectators were still trying to process what had just happened.
What was even more surprising was that Dustin had only attacked once during the fight, aside from his defensive moves and dodging. This realization sent chills through the crowd. If they hadn’t seen it with their own eyes, they would have laughed at the idea of the King of Kicks losing to an unknown young man.
Brody felt lost. His mind was blank as he tried to process what had just happened. He even wondered if the King of Kicks had faked his defeat.
“My lord! Where did that guy come from?” Otto gasped. His earlier disrespect for Dustin turned into shock and fear. Dustin’s victory over the King of Kicks showed just how skilled he really was. Thinking about how he had teased Dustin before filled Otto with dread. Thankfully, it seemed Dustin hadn’t taken it too seriously. Otherwise, Otto could have been in serious trouble.
“Impossible!” Julie exclaimed, still in disbelief. “He’s just a nobody! How could he become so powerful?” She couldn’t accept that Dustin was capable of such impressive moves. The only explanation that made sense to her was that both men were just pretending. Maybe the King of Kicks had been paid off by Dustin to lose. Yes, that had to be it!
“Haha! He won! We won!” Ruth cheered, jumping with excitement. She proudly pointed to the ring and said, “See that? That’s my brother-in-law! Isn’t he amazing?”
“Wait, he won? How did he do that?” Quentin stared in shock, his eyes wide.
“I never thought he had such talent,” Jessica said, impressed. “Since he beat the King of Kicks, I think he could be among the top eight in The Hundred Immortals.” She realized she had underestimated Dustin.
“He’s my man! So impressive!” Natasha beamed, her eyes sparkling with affection. She started to wonder about Dustin’s true background.
