An Understated Dominance - Chapter 298
“Fine. I’ll do it…” Luis smiled when he heard the voice on the phone. “Great. See you tonight. You better not stand me up again.”
He hung up, and the young men and women around him gave him a thumbs-up, excited about his news.
“I never thought a little trick could make that girl obey you, Ms. Langford. You’re amazing!” a blond guy said.
Luis laughed slyly. “She wouldn’t have agreed if I hadn’t involved her brother. Besides, I can’t let someone like her slip away.”
He had always managed to win over the women he wanted. All it took was some time and clever tactics. Dahlia seemed innocent, but he knew that by using her friends and family, he could get her to agree to anything.
“I’m curious, Mr. Langford. Why do you want to marry her? You could just have fun without tying the knot. This doesn’t seem like your style,” the blond guy asked.
“Good question.” Luis took a moment to light a cigar. “Honestly, I want the support of the Glenstead Nicholsons. Our families have a marriage agreement, and Dahlia will soon do what her family wants. Through her, I will gain complete control of the Nicholsons!”
His words stirred excitement in the crowd, and they started praising him.
“Just as expected from Mr. Langford; he always thinks ahead. So impressive!”
“He’s both smart and strong. Incredible!”
“Once I take over the Nicholsons, I will be the head of the Langfords!” Luis declared confidently.
The competition among him and his brothers was tough, as everyone wanted to lead the family. To beat them, he needed enough power and influence.
“Then let us wish you a happy marriage in advance!” The blond man raised his glass, leading the others in a toast to Luis. Laughter filled the room.
It was 8 PM at Hillview Restaurant.
Dustin had arrived early, eager to impress Dahlia. He chose the finest room for their dinner, though it didn’t matter much to him since he owned the place.
“Sir, our chef has prepared these special dishes for you. Please let us know your thoughts,” the manager said, holding out a menu.
“No need for all this. Just arrange it as you think best, but make sure to include the chef’s signature dish,” Dustin replied.
“Of course, sir,” the manager said, nodding. He signaled to the staff outside the room.
A team of waiters quickly entered, transforming the space with flowers, wine, candles, and more, creating a warm and romantic atmosphere. They had even brought in a guitarist and three dancers to perform. Soon, everything was set.
“Sir, I took the liberty of arranging some performers. I hope you don’t mind,” the manager said with a smile.
“This looks impressive. You must have worked hard on this,” Dustin said, pleasantly surprised.
“I can always tell them to leave if you’d prefer,” the manager offered, lowering his head.
“No, it’s fine. It’s very nice. Thank you,” Dustin replied with a smile, thinking about how much Dahlia would enjoy this.
“It’s my pleasure to serve you, sir. When is Ms. Nicholson arriving? I want to make sure everything is ready,” the manager asked carefully.
“She should be here soon,” Dustin said, glancing at the time. It was already past eight.
Dahlia was always punctual. Had something happened? Worried, Dustin pulled out his phone to call her.
