An Understated Dominance - Chapter 344
Florence was in a panic as she searched through the drawers and cabinets of the Nicholson Villa to pack their belongings.
“Dahlia, hurry! Go get all the jewelry we have! We can’t stay in Swinton anymore. We need to pack quickly and leave the country. I’ve already bought the flight tickets. We still have millions in savings and some valuables at home. That should be enough for us to get by for a while,” Florence said, clearly anxious.
Dahlia’s broken promise had not only embarrassed the Langfords but had also angered the Glenstead Nicholsons. Even in Stonia, Dahlia and the others wouldn’t find a safe place to stay, especially not in a small town like Swinton.
When Florence noticed that Dahlia wasn’t moving, her anxiety grew. “Dahlia! What are you waiting for? Pack your things now!”
“Mom, it’s not that serious. We don’t need to run away,” Dahlia replied, shaking her head.
“Don’t you see how serious this is?” Florence exclaimed, frustrated as she slapped her forehead. “We’re in trouble with the Langfords, the most powerful family in Stonia! They won’t just let us go after what’s happened!”
“I get what you’re saying, but Dustin has a plan to fix everything. I believe in him,” Dahlia said firmly.
“Are you out of your mind? Why would you trust that loser?” Florence shouted, her anger boiling over. “What gives him the right to stand up to the Langfords? If it weren’t for him, you wouldn’t have run away from the wedding, and we wouldn’t be in this mess. He’s a disaster!”
Dustin could have given them a comfortable life, but in the end, he ruined everything. Florence despised him deeply.
Dahlia frowned and said, “Mom! I broke the marriage promise by myself. It has nothing to do with Dustin!”
Florence replied bitterly, “You’re still defending him? Do you really need to wait until our family is in ruins because of him to see the truth?”
“I won’t go anywhere without Dustin,” Dahlia insisted, standing her ground.
Florence was frustrated. “Y-you… You’re hopeless!”
She thought to herself, “How did I raise such a foolish daughter? She’d rather be with someone poor than marry into a wealthy family. What a stubborn girl!”
Just then, James came down the stairs, struggling with two big suitcases. “Mom, I’m done packing. When are we leaving?”
“Hmph! Your sister wants to wait for that loser!” Florence slumped onto the couch angrily.
“Why are you waiting for him, Sis? He’s made our lives miserable enough!” James frowned.
“Just go with Mom first. Don’t worry about me,” Dahlia shook her head.
“Leave? Where do you think you’re going?” Dakota suddenly burst through the door with several people behind her. “Are you trying to escape your responsibilities after what you’ve done?”
“What do you mean?” Dahlia frowned.
Dakota said sternly, “You need to face the consequences of your actions. I’ll have to take you to the Langfords to resolve the conflict between our families!”
“What?” Florence’s face changed instantly. She stood up and forced a smile. “Dakota, you don’t have to be this harsh. Aren’t we family?”
“Harsh?” Dakota scoffed. “It wasn’t easy to…”
“You had the chance to become family with the Langfords, but instead of appreciating it, you dragged everyone down! Who do you think is more ruthless?” Dakota accused.
“Dakota, this isn’t about my daughter,” Florence exclaimed, clearly flustered. “This is all Dustin’s fault. If you want someone to blame, go after him!”
“Don’t worry about Dustin. He’s with the Langfords right now. He might already be in serious trouble. But Dahlia still needs to face the consequences for what she did, so she has to come with us!” Dakota replied coldly.
As she spoke, she waved her hand, and moments later, several strong bodyguards stormed into the house.
