Chapter 305
Once Duncan and Liberty left, everyone nearby began speculating about how their CEO might know Liberty. It seemed that their CEO was looking out for her.
“Could she be related to the CEO?”
“I don’t think so. Didn’t you hear the larger woman refer to him as Mr. Lewis? They’ve met before, but I doubt they’re very close.”
“Do you think our CEO has a crush on her? He’s thirty-five this year and doesn’t have a girlfriend.”
Duncan was a young and promising CEO, but the scar on his face, combined with his tall, muscular build and intense eyes, gave him an intimidating presence, reminiscent of the mafia.
This was likely why he hadn’t found a girlfriend, even in his mid-thirties.
Everyone’s attention shifted to the person who made that comment. Ms. Chaplin smacked the back of their head and said, “What’s going on in that head of yours? I can’t believe you think that. As a woman, I find the larger woman unappealing. I’m sure you men feel similarly, if not worse.”
“Mr. Lewis only has a scar on his face. He’s actually quite handsome if you ignore that side. A man like him could attract any woman; why would he pursue someone like her?”
“And let’s not forget, Liberty is married and has a two-year-old son.”

The crowd ceased speculating about a romantic connection between the two.
However, they remained curious about Liberty’s relationship with Duncan.
Duncan’s insistence that Liberty run and lose weight was for her own benefit, yet they couldn’t shake the feeling that something was happening between them.
If Duncan were aware of his employees’ conversation, he would likely lament the situation he found himself in.
Elisa left Wiltspoon School at eleven o’clock in the morning and was headed to Wiltspoon.
Hotel to come across Zachary.
Zachary arrived at the shop just as Serenity finished cooking.
“Uncle Zak.”
Sonny was playing with his toy when Zachary entered the shop. Overjoyed, he abandoned the toy and ran towards Zachary.
Serenity was puzzled by her nephew’s sudden fascination with Zachary’s stoic expression until she noticed the white dog he had on a leash. He was also carrying a double-story cage that contained two kittens.
The kittens were plump and adorable.
Sonny was captivated by the little animals; it had nothing to do with Zachary’s allure.
“Doggie… Doggie…”
Pointing at the dog, Sonny repeatedly exclaimed, “doggie.” As she removed her apron, Serenity inquired, “Whose pets are these?”
Zachary set the cat carrier on the floor and secured the dog’s leash to a shelf leg before lifting Sonny. He then responded to his wife’s question, “I asked a friend to bring me the dog and cats. Do you like them?”
Serenity exclaimed in delight, “Mr. York, are you saying these pets are for me?”
Zachary nodded slightly. “You mentioned that it was too quiet at home and that you wanted a few pets. I got them for you. The cats are ragdolls, but I can’t recall the dog’s breed.”
Serenity replied cheerfully, “That’s alright. I don’t mind the breed. I love them all. They’re so cute and beautiful.”
The dog was not a large breed, and she instantly took a liking to its white fur.
“Ragdolls are expensive.”
Serenity approached the kittens to play with them. She remarked, “Ragdolls cost at least a few thousand dollars, even at friends-and-family rates. Each kitten must have set you back over ten thousand dollars.”
“The price doesn’t matter as long as you like them. Just to be clear, they’re not allowed in my
You are in charge of their care if you wish to keep them. That means you’re responsible for cleaning up after them.” Serenity beamed. “Don’t worry! The pets and I won’t invade your space. I’ll make sure they know your bedroom is off-limits.” Her happiness brought a smile to Zachary’s face.
