Chapter 3313
Alice smiled and remarked, “That’s only natural. Hugging Julian’s wife feels just like hugging Julian himself.”
As the eldest mistress of a businessman, Alice didn’t need to please or flatter anyone. Still, she desired to befriend Julian and his wife.
The Bucham family could be beneficial, and to leverage their support, it was essential to cultivate a relationship with Zachary that would enable them to seek assistance when needed.
Aside from a handful of genuine friends, most of a lady’s social circle comprised contacts with ulterior motives—merely taking advantage of one another.
“Go downstairs and see if those older folks are telling the truth,” Alice gently urged her son. “The baby will soon fall asleep. I’ll stay with him for a while, so you don’t need to wake me for breakfast. Just make sure to eat before heading back to the company.”
“Okay.” Clive approached, kissed his beloved wife on the cheek, and tenderly caressed their son’s small face.
All he wanted was to be with his wife and son.
“Go on now,” Alice encouraged.
Clive kissed his wife again and whispered, “Things will be easier when the baby is two months old.”
Alice simply hummed in response, her cheeks slightly flushed from being a vegetarian for too long.
Clive hadn’t dared to touch her since she entered confinement; he insisted they wait until the baby was two months old before resuming their married life.
“You two sleep a little longer; I’ll check downstairs,” Clive said, gazing deeply at his wife before standing up, turning around, and leaving the room.
Just a few minutes later,
“Young
“Master.” The butler waited for Clive on the stairs, and upon seeing him descend, respectfully called out.
Several elderly individuals were seated on the sofa as the butler served them tea and snacks. Simultaneously, he instructed the kitchen to prepare breakfast for additional guests.
If this truly is the person the wife is searching for, the host will likely keep a few elderly guests for breakfast. Being prepared is certainly better than being caught off guard.
Regardless, Remy, the future son-in-law from next door, would be coming over for a meal later.
As Clive came downstairs, the elderly guests merely glanced at him before returning to their warm water, ignoring the fruits and snacks.
The oldest among them fixed his gaze on Clive and remarked, “There is a little shadow.”
“Old man, this is our eldest young master, Clive,” the butler introduced him.
Clive approached, greeted them politely, and took a seat while the five elderly individuals examined him.
He noticed the old assistant, whose long gray beard suggested many years of growth.
