Chapter 3324
-Serenity then said, “Auntie, I’ll come back in the evening.”
Audrey hummed in response.
Audrey replied, “You’ll pick up Sonny and bring him with you this afternoon.”
After a brief pause, Audrey added, “The old man mentioned that Uncle Jimenez doesn’t have much time left. Let the younger generation visit him.”
Everyone exchanged concerned glances.
Serenity asked anxiously, “What illness does Grandpa Jimenez have?”
“It could be the aftereffects of previous injuries. He’s also a bit sickly, and at his age, he’s more fragile.” Audrey sighed, choosing not to elaborate further.
The old miracle doctor had advised them to prepare themselves mentally.
“I’ll pick up Sonny this afternoon and bring him along,” Serenity said, understanding that Uncle Jimenez was very old and his time was limited, which made it hard for him to hold on for long.
Serenity added, “Auntie, should we notify my sister to come back?”
Audrey replied, “Not for now. Uncle Jimenez hasn’t given me the evidence yet, so he should be fine for the time being. When he comes over next, I’ll have him stay at my house, and our family will take care of him until he passes.”
Uncle Jimenez never married and had no children.
Audrey felt it was right to care for Uncle Jimenez as if he were her own family, treating her two sisters like daughters.
The younger generation was busy with work and had little time to care for the elderly.
With both Audrey and her husband retired at home, they were in a position to look after Uncle Jimenez. Perhaps their companionship would help him live longer.
Serenity suggested, “Let’s wait until my sister comes back for the New Year, and then we can all visit Grandpa.”
“Jimenez.”
Audrey replied, “Yes. We need to keep your grandfather Jimenez’s visit a secret for now and refrain from spreading the news. That old woman in Jensburg is still searching for Uncle Jimenez’s whereabouts and may have uncovered some information.”
Everyone responded, “I will never tell anyone.”
Audrey had a great deal of trust in her juniors, and they all remained tight-lipped.
“You can share a little information with Kathryn to gauge her reaction, but don’t make it too obvious,” Audrey advised. “I still need to test my cousin. I’ll call Liberty later this evening, as she is only available at night.”
Serenity hummed in acknowledgment.
Audrey instructed, “Go back and get some rest. Zachary, please take Serenity home.”
Zachary stood up, bid farewell to Audrey, her husband, and everyone else. He took Serenity’s hand, and they left together.
Serenity said, “Husband, you can go to work; I’ll go home by myself.”
Zachary embraced her, allowing her to lean against him. He spoke softly, “I won’t be going back to the company today. If I take a day or two off, nothing major will happen. I’ll accompany you home. Get some rest, and we’ll pick up Sonny together this afternoon and return.”
Serenity gazed up at Zachary for a moment before leaning back against him.
“Husband, thank you. No matter what happens, you are always by my side, providing support and reassurance,” she said.
Zachary chuckled. “We are husband and wife; we are family. There’s no need to be so formal with me. I will support you for the rest of your life.”
Serenity didn’t reply further and simply wrapped her arms around his waist.
It felt wonderful to have him by her side!
