Zachary stared at Serenity in silence for a moment before turning around and leaving.
Serenity opened her mouth to call him back but ultimately decided against it. If he didn’t want to speak, there was no point in trying to force him to do so.
“His silence is so frustrating. Why can’t he just be straightforward?”
Serenity vented her frustration at Zachary’s unwillingness to communicate.
Humans are inherently curious, and Zachary’s reluctance only deepened Serenity’s intrigue. She often found herself wondering what he was trying to say.
Within two minutes, the quiet man returned, this time holding a bouquet of roses.
Serenity stared at him in disbelief.
She couldn’t wrap her head around the fact that Zachary was carrying flowers.
Rubbing her eyes in an attempt to clear her vision, she looked again, confirming that the man was indeed Mr. York.
‘Is he planning to give me those flowers?’
For some reason, Serenity’s heart raced, and every nerve in her body felt tense. She was incredibly nervous! Instead of handing the bouquet to her, Zachary placed it on the counter and said, “I passed by the florist and saw the flowers blooming beautifully, so I bought a bouquet for you. It doesn’t mean anything.”
After finishing his sentence, he turned and walked away before she could respond. He left in one fluid motion, as if he feared she might use the bouquet to slap him if he lingered even a moment longer.

Serenity snapped back to reality. Without thinking, she dashed out of the store, calling after him.
However, Zachary climbed into his car and sped away as if he were fleeing from a ghost. In an instant, his car vanished from sight.

Once her laughter subsided, she returned to the store and sat down in front of the cash register. She glanced at the bouquet of roses for a moment before picking it up. “I don’t have any vases in the store,” she mused. She then walked around and placed the bouquet back on the table.
“Serenity!” Shawn suddenly called out to her, entering the store swiftly. Dressed in a black suit, he looked handsome and polished, like a successful businessman. However, Serenity still believed her husband looked the best in a suit. Perhaps it was Zachary’s demeanor that gave off an air of success; his maturity and calmness were qualities Shawn couldn’t quite match. Shawn was still too young.
“Isn’t it working hours now? Why are you here?” Serenity asked instinctively.
“I just delivered a document to my dad at the hotel and happened to pass by, so I thought I’d stop in for a look. Is Jasmine here?” Shawn refrained from admitting that he missed Serenity—his true reason for stopping by. Serenity also seemed noticeably colder toward him, which made Shawn feel flustered.
“Jasmine took Sonny to the supermarket,” she replied, pulling out her phone to take a picture of the bouquet. Her gaze remained focused on the flowers, not on Shawn.
Noticing her concentration, Shawn tentatively asked, “Serenity, about this bouquet…”
