Holden insisted, “I’m not worrying without cause. You’ll understand when the time comes. If you still respect me as your father, please follow my instructions.”
“Dad, I’m going back to inform Mom about my divorce. I’m leaving now.”
Marco quickly found an excuse to leave first.
His two younger brothers also managed to find excuses to depart. Holden was furious but felt powerless against his three sons.
Since his sons were unwilling to leave the bustling city of Jensburg, Holden decided to take his grandchildren back to their hometown instead.
With this decision made, Holden called his daughters-in-law. He had no contact with the eldest daughter-in-law, Erika. During the winter vacation, Marco’s children would go with Erika to her parents’ home. Given the divorce, the children would likely choose to stay with their mother.

Clive accepted the cup and expressed his gratitude. Since the coffee was still hot, he set it down.
Liberty was about to take a seat when the intercom phone rang.
She walked over to answer it.
“Boss Hunt, Mrs. Clarissa Farrell is here and wishes to see you.”

The person who had kept Liberty on edge all night had finally made her move.
Liberty had been analyzing Clarissa’s motives with Clive, but she hadn’t anticipated Clarissa’s arrival.
It was just after nine in the morning.
“Let her in.”
If Clarissa had the audacity to come, Liberty was ready to confront her.
The secretary acknowledged the instruction and hung up the phone.

Before allowing her in, Jim carefully checked Clarissa’s coat and trouser pockets. Since they didn’t appear to be bulging, he concluded that she wasn’t carrying a weapon, such as a pistol, and thus permitted her entry.
Clarissa had contemplated taking matters into her own hands and confronting Liberty with a gun.
