Chapter 3501
Callum, wearing a serious expression, said, “You know Carrie’s personality better than anyone. Her parents weren’t able to guide her properly, but that person now has the ability to shape her into a refined lady. Even though she’s still a bit short, it’s quite impressive. I’ll discuss this with my eldest brother later.”
Camryn responded, “It seems like she’s focusing on Serenity, but I’m not sure why.”
Callum reassured her, “Don’t overthink it; we’ll figure it out. When your assistants return, we’ll go out to eat. Do you prefer going back to Wildridge Manor or the hotel?”
“The hotel. It’s too far to return to Wildridge Manor.”
Even though the older generation remained at Wildridge Manor, they were preparing to leave, allowing Callum and the others to return to their normal routines. Those with jobs resumed work, while students continued their studies.
It was the start of winter break. Most students were on holiday, but Rowan, a high school student, was still attending extra classes. He wouldn’t have a break until the New Year and would return to school earlier than his peers afterward.
“I didn’t want to go back to Wildridge Manor tonight, but now I feel I must. My sister-in-law is still there,” Camryn said, intending to update Serenity on the situation.
Considering Serenity was at Wildridge Manor with the elderly matriarch, Camryn decided it would be best to wait until after dinner to discuss it.
Meanwhile, the impersonator of Carrie left Spring Blossoms by car and immediately called her stand-in.
The stand-in answered promptly, “Where are you now?”
“On my way back to your place,” Carrie replied.
After a brief silence, Carrie added, “Okay, let’s talk when we meet later.”
The imposter, Carrie,
She said, “Just prepare the money for me. I’ve been slapped several times and need compensation.”
Carrie smiled, “Don’t worry; I won’t treat you unfairly.”
Watching others get slapped brought Carrie satisfaction. She couldn’t tolerate the sight of others being happy and took pleasure in their suffering. If not for the stand-in, she would have been the one getting slapped.
Callum truly protected that blind woman. Her mother was right: the men of the York family dote on their wives, and every member of the York family has their vulnerabilities.
Everything Camryn possesses originally belonged to Carrie. She vowed to reclaim it all, ruin Camryn’s reputation, leave her with nothing, and hand her over to Mr. Labbe for mistreatment.
Mr. Labbe had mentioned that the blind woman was much smarter than Carrie. He expressed interest in both the blind woman and Serenity. Carrie felt exhilarated at the thought of their fate. She envisioned herself as the head of the Newman family, worth over a billion, and marrying into the York family would be a perfect fit.
She wouldn’t mind if Callum and Camryn divorced; as long as Callum was the second man she married, it would be worth it to her.
“Ring, ring, ring…”
Carrie’s phone rang. Upon checking the caller ID, she saw it was Mr. Labbe.
She composed herself before answering, “Mr. Labbe.”
Mr. Labbe laughed on the other end, “I can hear your joy. You seem to be in a good mood. It seems your plan is progressing well.”
“Yes, it is. The blind woman now believes Mrs. Labbe is Mrs. Labbe, not Miss Newman. You were impressive in finding a lookalike so quickly.”
