Chapter 3622
Marco couldn’t recall any wrongdoing, which allowed him to relax a little.
“Marco,” Clarissa said, her tone serious. “A number of police officers visited our company today. You and your brothers haven’t been involved in any illegal activities, have you? Especially under the company’s name?”
Clarissa spoke gravely. Marco couldn’t see her face, but he could sense her seriousness from her voice.
Shocked by the news of police at the company, Marco replied cautiously, “Mom, my brothers and I haven’t done anything illegal. We’ve been conducting business as usual, perhaps just a bit competitively. But, Mom, what are the police doing at the company? Is everything alright with our taxes?”
Clarissa reprimanded him, “The tax bureau deals with taxes, not the police.”
“Then I honestly don’t know what’s happening,” Marco said. “I can assure you that we haven’t engaged in any illegal activities.”
If they had, the police would have come directly for them.
“Where are you right now? Get your brothers back to the company,” Clarissa instructed.
After informing her sons, Clarissa called Mr. Dunn, her assistant, to ensure everything was in order before returning to the Farrell Group.
Upon her arrival, the police were waiting for her. They informed her that they had received a report claiming that Mr. Dunn, her assistant, was in possession of a firearm and requested that both she and Mr. Dunn come to the station for questioning.
Mr. Dunn was extremely loyal to Clarissa, acting solely on her directives, which meant only she had his contact information. Although he was frequently seen at the company, no one else had his number.
The police asked Clarissa to provide Mr. Dunn’s contact information.
Clarissa called the officer for information and to request his assistance in accompanying her to the station.
“Officer, who informed you of this? Who reported that Mr. Dunn has a gun? He’s merely my assistant, not a criminal. Someone must be trying to frame him and tarnish my reputation,” Clarissa said defensively. “I’ve made many enemies, and now they’re attempting to bring me down by attributing false claims to me.”
Although the police were only interested in Mr. Dunn, his actions would reflect on her, and if he possessed a gun, she would likely be aware of it. Accompanying him to the station would likely lead to trouble.
Clarissa suspected that Liberty was behind this situation.
Upon learning that the police were at the company, she feared they had uncovered her gun and reported it.
This suspicion made her uneasy.
She was aware that she was complicit in something illegal and that there would be repercussions.
“Mrs. Farrell, we need to determine if the report is false. Please cooperate by coming with us for questioning. It’s a routine procedure, and we appreciate your understanding,” one of the officers explained.
Clarissa hesitated before replying, “Someone is trying to frame me. You have no evidence; you cannot arrest anyone.”
“Mrs. Farrell, we are not formally arresting you. We simply need to question you,” the officer clarified.
