Elora could already foresee how her younger brothers would turn out. Alonzo was likely to grow up bold and ambitious, while Angelo would tend to adhere closely to the rules.
Ambition is not inherently negative, but it is crucial to avoid taking risks without understanding the potential outcomes and to steer clear of trouble.
Elora recognized that she needed to discuss Alonzo’s education with their parents. Despite her busy schedule, she consistently monitored his academic performance because she was deeply invested in his future.
At home, when Alonzo misbehaved, the elders often indulged him, opting for leniency over punishment. However, when Elora discovered this, she did not hesitate to take action. Even if he cried or acted spoiled, she would discipline him, correct his behavior, and require him to write a self-reflection. If their parents, uncles, or aunts attempted to shield him, they too would be expected to write one.
Elora’s aim was to prevent the boys from encountering serious trouble later in life. Naturally, she did not mind harmless mischief; after all, boys will be boys, as long as they understand the difference between right and wrong.
By instilling good values from a young age, she believed that even the most adventurous boys would not cross lines or engage in harmful or illegal activities as they matured.
“Elora, Tatum said you can have some soup. He served you a bowl and asked you to come inside,” Mrs. Ormond said as she approached, noticing Elora with her brothers.
Upon hearing about the soup, the boys’ eyes brightened. They grabbed Elora’s hands and exclaimed, “Sister, I want soup too! Brother Tatum’s soup is the best!”
Angelo added, “I’m having dinner at your place today, and I want soup too!”
Whenever Tatum was home, Angelo always had his meals at his uncle’s house.

She smiled and said, “Don’t worry, there’s enough for both of you. Let’s head inside, stop playing in the snow, and warm up with some hot soup.”
“Yay!” Alonzo cheered as he released Elora’s hand and dashed toward the house.
“Alonzo, slow down! Be careful!” Mrs. Ormond called out, hurriedly chasing after him.
Angelo sprinted after them, fearing he would miss out on the soup if he didn’t keep up.
Elora laughed, watching her brothers race off. She took a moment to admire the snow turtles they had built and couldn’t resist snapping a couple of photos.
Although Elora rarely posted on social media, she shared the pictures with the caption: “My brothers’ masterpieces.”
In no time, her post received a flurry of likes.
Suddenly, her phone rang; it was her best friend calling.
“Elora, when did you get back? I brought you some souvenirs from my trip. Your mom said you were away on business, so I didn’t want to bother you.”
As she walked toward the house, Elora replied, “I just got back today. I’ll be heading back to work this afternoon. I’m surprised you’re back! I thought you and your husband would be traveling for years.”
Her best friend, Rosie, had gotten married three months ago and had been on a honeymoon abroad ever since. Although it was a business marriage, Rosie and her husband had known each other since childhood and shared a close bond. Since neither was the eldest in their families, they didn’t face the pressure of running the family business, giving them plenty of time and money to travel.
