Married At First Sight Chapter 3711
In Chapter 3711 of Married At First Sight, Holden was present when Clarissa drafted her will, and at that moment, he did not dare to voice any objections. The will specified that if Clarissa passed away before him, half of her private property would go to Kathryn, her biological daughter, who was set to inherit the family business. The other half was to be equally divided among their three sons.
Shiloh was excluded from the will. It stated that since Shiloh was not a member of the Farrell family, she was not required to return what she had received and could continue to use it. As for Holden, Clarissa’s husband, he was not granted any direct inheritance. Instead, the will indicated that his three sons would be responsible for supporting him in the future. The amount of pocket money they provided would be at their discretion, not Clarissa’s.
After a lengthy silence, Holden remarked, “Even if everything is distributed as your mother wished, you are still my child. Shouldn’t you care for me in my old age?”
Kathryn replied, “I never said I wouldn’t support you, Dad. If my brothers are unable to do so, I will ensure you have enough to live on. I won’t let you go hungry.”
Kathryn was committed to supporting her father during his retirement; however, this had no bearing on her potential takeover of the Farrell family business. She added, “Whether or not I take over the business does not affect my ability to support you. Even without it, I can manage your expenses. You have four children. Are you truly concerned that we won’t be able to support you?”
Frustrated, Holden replied, “It’s not merely about receiving a few hundred dollars each month. I want to live in a large villa, drive a luxury car, and have servants to assist me. I’m old, and life is challenging. I need more than one servant—I need several. If you don’t take over the family business, where will you find the money to provide that?”

“How much money do you think you’ll inherit from your mother’s estate, even if she favored you?”

Holden was uncertain about the extent of Clarissa’s private property, but he assumed it was substantial. After taking control of the family, Clarissa had worked diligently to privatize many of their assets. He estimated its worth to be in the hundreds of millions, possibly even billions.

As he contemplated the vast wealth, feelings of resentment toward Clarissa resurfaced. Why should he feel sorrow? He had been under her domination for decades. With her absence, he should be experiencing relief, not grief.

His primary focus now was to secure his own interests. If he couldn’t claim Clarissa’s fortune, he at least hoped his children would recognize him as the patriarch of the Farrell family. What frustrated him most was that he had rendered himself impotent; otherwise, he could have sought out another partner.

Kathryn studied him for a moment before responding. “If you’re inquiring about my mother’s personal wealth, there’s not much. However, over time, she gradually integrated the family business with her personal assets, resulting in a significant sum.”

“My mother was responsible for the deaths of both my aunts. My younger aunt had no children, so there’s no one to compensate. But my eldest aunt had descendants. As my mother’s daughter, even in her absence, I feel a responsibility to make amends to my eldest aunt’s family.”

Upon hearing this, Holden’s expression turned grim. He shot Kathryn a glare and retorted, “Are you trying to push me to my grave? You plan to give all your mother’s wealth to Audrey and her family?”

“Your mother dedicated herself to the Farrell family for decades. Although her position as the head of the family was stripped from her, her contributions are irrefutable.”

Regardless of her success, she put in the effort, and the property she currently possesses is well-deserved. Don’t assume you can do whatever you want simply because she’s no longer here. If you choose to give away her property to Audrey and others, I can’t prevent you, but your three brothers have the right to sue you.” Kathryn remained composed and replied, “If nothing extreme had happened, we would all be dividing the property according to her will.”

Holden felt uneasy and asked cautiously, “What do you mean? Didn’t your mother leave everything to you? Did she change her will later?”

Kathryn did not respond directly. Previously, Clarissa had wanted to send her away and had even brought Pedro over to entrust everything to him, instructing Kathryn to take her wealth and leave. Although Kathryn did not comply with her mother’s request, she suspected that Clarissa might have altered her will afterward.

After arranging her mother’s funeral, Kathryn had to address the concerns of both the family and the company. While everyone continued their work, whispers circulated about who would take over the Farrell Group. Kathryn wasn’t in a rush to deal with Clarissa’s estate; if Holden hadn’t mentioned it, she wouldn’t have focused on it yet.

Eventually, she planned to consult a lawyer to review the will and determine whether Clarissa had changed it or left everything to her. Regardless of the outcome, Kathryn felt it was her responsibility to compensate her aunt’s descendants, knowing her mother owed them that much.

Many of Clarissa’s assets had been taken from the company, and some of the family’s charitable funds had been privatized by her. Kathryn had no intention of keeping any of this; she intended to return it all to Audrey. What Audrey chose to do with it would be entirely up to her.

“Dad, I won’t keep everything. My three brothers still have their share. I know they haven’t treated me well, but we are still family.”

her siblings. They are in their thirties and lack competence. Without the Farrell Group, they will struggle. Despite having their own businesses, their income is limited, and they still need to support their families. Therefore, I will ensure they receive their share. What I choose to do with my portion is my decision alone. I know you cannot compel me to change my mind.

Holden recognized that while Kathryn might appear fragile, she was resilient, just like her mother. The difference was that Kathryn was fair and reasonable. Once she made a decision, not even Clarissa could sway her. Clarissa had attempted to send Kathryn away multiple times, yet she always returned, much to her mother’s annoyance.

Kathryn continued, “Dad, concentrate on getting better. Once you’re well, you can leave the hospital and come home for New Year. My brothers are grown men. Even if they aren’t wealthy, they possess more than most people could ever imagine. As long as they live honestly, they will be fine.”

Kathryn wasn’t entirely sure how much money her three brothers had. Although her mother viewed them as inept, she still assisted them in making money while she was alive. Kathryn estimated their worth to be in the tens, if not hundreds, of millions.

With that level of wealth, how could they complain about being poor? What could they possibly be anxious about? Nonetheless, if Kathryn did not take charge of the Farrell family, her brothers might struggle to survive in Jensburg. They had always depended on the Farrell Group and their mother’s protection. However, with new leadership, no one would safeguard them any longer, and the Farrell Group wouldn’t permit them to act recklessly.

Even if Kathryn assumed control, she would not allow the Farrell Group to cover for her siblings.

brothers. Additionally, Audrey’s family has always been in conflict with theirs. Whether Audrey or Liberty takes charge, her brothers will face difficulties. If they were wise, they would liquidate their assets, convert them into cash, and leave Jensburg. This way, they could retain some of their wealth. Otherwise, they risk losing everything and could even end up homeless.

Kathryn wasn’t feeling generous enough to continually support her brothers; she wasn’t going to sacrifice herself for them.

“Why compare yourself to ordinary people? You’re special!” Holden insisted. He didn’t want to relinquish his wife’s wealth and was determined to fight for their sons. Softening his tone, he added, “Kathryn, I know you’re compassionate. You believe your mother made mistakes. Although she wasn’t perfect, she was still your mother.

“If she knew what you were doing, she would be furious. You have so many nieces and nephews. What if your brothers run out of money? You know they aren’t very capable, so don’t act impulsively.

“Audrey’s family and others are financially secure. Audrey is married into the Stone family, which ranks second only to the York family in Wiltspoon. Liberty’s sister is the eldest lady of the York family, the wealthiest in Wiltspoon, worth hundreds of billions.

“They are all richer than our Farrell Group. They won’t even notice the small compensation you offer. And do you really believe they will forgive your mother simply because you give them money?

“Kathryn, you and they are adversaries. There will never be peace. Audrey’s mother was killed by your mother, and Audrey and her family were responsible for your mother’s death. Your parents and their family are sworn enemies.

“So why show compassion? They won’t appreciate it.”

Holden handed Kathryn a cup. “Pour some water for your brothers.”

“Dad, I’ve talked so much, and now I’m thirsty.” Kathryn poured him a cup of warm water without complaint. While doing so, she overheard him calling Marco. She didn’t care. What could he possibly tell Marco? Marco had no authority to make decisions for her. Until Audrey or Liberty took charge, Kathryn was in control of the Farrell family.

Marco couldn’t alter Kathryn’s decisions, and she wasn’t intimidated by pressure from her father or brothers. If she couldn’t handle that, she didn’t deserve to lead the Farrell family. Holden didn’t say much on the phone; he only asked Marco to come to the hospital. After Kathryn poured him a cup of water, he hung up. She pretended not to notice and handed him the cup. Holden, feeling parched from his attempts to persuade her, drank it all in one gulp.

“Kathryn…” Holden began, but she cut him off. “Dad, enough. I can handle everything. As your children, we are responsible for supporting you. I’ll match whatever my brothers contribute each month. You won’t go hungry, but the rest is up to your sons.” Their mother’s will clearly stated that Holden’s care was entrusted to the three brothers, and Kathryn would contribute based on her mood.

“Dad, rest well. I need to return to the company—things have been unstable lately,” she said, preparing to leave.

“Kathryn!” Holden called after her. When she turned back, he warned, “If you dare hand over everything, I’ll never forgive you! Remember, I’m your father!”

Kathryn smiled sarcastically. “Dad, you don’t get to control me. Mom couldn’t, and you certainly can’t.”

Holden shouted, “You think I’m scared? I won’t let you go!”

Kathryn replied, “Yes, you’re my father. But so what? I’m a Farrell.”

“I will be the head of this family if I choose to be. You have no say in the matter.” She walked back to his bedside, leaned in close, and locked eyes with him, clearly expressing her determination.

“Dad, listen carefully. You couldn’t control Mom when she was alive, and you can’t control me now that she’s gone. Just because I’m your daughter doesn’t mean you can dictate my actions.”

Kathryn sneered, “Do you know why Mom shot you? She understood exactly what you would do. She knew that once she was gone, you’d try to boss me around and hold me back. She was right about you. You barely survived, and now you’re already trying to control me.”

She continued, “Dad, I’m Clarissa’s daughter. You know what kind of person she was, and I’ve inherited many of her traits. You’ll receive your monthly allowance out of respect for our father-daughter bond. However, if you don’t appreciate it, don’t expect me to be kind. Let’s be honest—we never really had a father-daughter bond. Your affections went to your sons and Shiloh, not to me, your true daughter. If you push me too far, life won’t be easy for any of you. I won’t resort to violence like Mom did, but I will ensure you regret it.”

Kathryn stood tall, ignoring the shock on Holden’s face. Coldly, she said, “Dad, the decision you made with Mom when you learned Mr. Jimenez was alive was probably the smartest one.”

“Get some rest. Don’t ruin your life, and don’t ruin your three sons’ lives either. Don’t push me, because my patience is gone!” Kathryn said before turning and walking out.

Holden wanted to call out to her, but no words came to him. He could only watch her leave, filled with anger and resentment.

Once Kathryn was out of sight, Holden muttered, “Ungrateful…”

“Daughter! That ungrateful Clarissa gave me this horrible daughter!”

“How dare she speak to her father like that! Doesn’t she fear karma?”

“If you don’t listen to your father, you’ll regret it later. She’ll lose all the benefits she has worked for. I’ve never seen such a fool!”

Holden was enraged that Kathryn dismissed his advice and spoke to him so disrespectfully, but he felt powerless to change it. Kathryn’s strength reminded him too much of her mother. Initially, Holden believed Kathryn was spoiled. Despite the poor treatment from Shiloh’s biological parents, Kathryn had managed to remain resilient. Now, even Shiloh’s relatives were too intimidated to approach her.

Shiloh’s death must have taught them a lesson. Only the elderly butler faced consequences for what happened to Shiloh, while the others were spared because Kathryn recognized they had raised her. However, if they attempted to exploit her now, they would meet the same fate as Shiloh.

As for Shiloh, whom the Farrell family had cared for over 20 years, they had given up on her. No one dared to test the Farrell family’s patience again.

Kathryn exited the hospital’s inpatient department where Pedro was waiting at the door. Upon seeing her, he approached and draped a coat over her shoulders, saying, “It’s cold outside. You should wear something warmer.”

“I’m not cold,” Kathryn replied, yet she accepted his gesture.

They walked together toward the hospital parking lot. Pedro asked, “Did things not go well with Mr. Janzen? You didn’t seem happy when you came out.”

Kathryn paused for a moment before responding, “My mother’s past concerns weren’t unfounded.”

Pedro realized that Holden had tried to take advantage of her. “Did Mr. Janzen make unreasonable demands?”

“Not—”

“That’s unreasonable,” Kathryn replied, “but our relationship isn’t like a typical father-daughter bond. He doesn’t care about me, and I don’t care about him.” Pedro opened the car door, and after Kathryn climbed in, she took off the coat he had given her. Once Pedro joined her inside, she continued, “My dad wants to divide the assets my mom left behind. However, in her will, she clearly stated that her personal property shouldn’t go to him. She must not have fully trusted him, fearing he would spend her assets on other women.”

“My mom didn’t want her wealth to benefit anyone else. Even when my dad moved into the house, he held no real authority in the Farrell family. She was strong-willed, and he had no say. Despite his frustrations, he couldn’t challenge her.”

“My mom’s will indicated that my three brothers would take care of him in his old age, but I think she changed her mind later. Now, with everything happening, I feel overwhelmed and haven’t had the time to deal with her estate.”
