Chapter 3764
Chapter 3764
Sage abruptly stood up, took a few steps toward Kathryn, and attempted to slap her, but failed.
Kathryn quickly seized his wrist with one hand.
Although she had never trained in martial arts—her adoptive parents had treated her poorly and denied her that opportunity—she had learned to defend herself from the numerous fights she endured while being bullied. Her quick reflexes stemmed from those experiences.
In a swift motion, Kathryn splashed the remaining coffee from her cup onto Sage’s face. He was taken by surprise, never expecting her to grip his wrist so effortlessly.
Sage was aware that Kathryn lacked martial arts training and typically relied on bodyguards for protection when she was out. Pedro was always by her side to ensure her safety and had even arranged for secret security to guard her discreetly.
In Kathryn’s office, with no one else present and Pedro absent, Sage underestimated her as a threat. Fueled by anger and eager to assert his dominance, he failed to consider the potential consequences.
He believed Kathryn wouldn’t retaliate violently due to her strong sense of morality. After all, he was still her brother, and they shared the same parents.
Despite the small amount of coffee left in Kathryn’s cup, it was sufficient to splash across Sage’s face and stain his white suit, making the mess more noticeable.
Kathryn’s tone turned icy. “Believe me when I say, if you touch me again, I’ll smash your head with a wine glass!”
“You think I’m weak, don’t you? I may not be trained to fight, but that doesn’t mean I’ll back down from you! Just remember, before you lay a hand on me, think about the consequences—can you really handle them?” She released Sage’s wrist and continued,
“Go sit down. You can yell at me all you want, but don’t try to hit me. If you do, don’t expect me to care about family loyalty.”
“We never had much of a bond to begin with,” Kathryn replied, her gaze shifting to Marco. “You say I don’t treat you like brothers, but when have you ever treated me like a sister? Have you ever truly seen me as family?”
“We’ve always just been putting on an act for Mom,” he said. “Don’t lecture me about family ties or accuse me of not treating you like brothers. Ask yourselves—how have you treated me?”
“Don’t think you can boss me around just because you’re older. That doesn’t work with me. Everything that belonged to the Farrell family belongs to the family; it was Mom who took it, and it was never really hers to begin with, let alone ours. Before she died, she realized her mistake and apologized to our aunt.”
“I’m going to return what rightfully belongs to our aunt’s descendants. It’s my way of making amends on Mom’s behalf so she can rest in peace.”
“You’ve been in business for years and have your own real estate and rental properties. Even without the Farrell Group, you can live comfortably off your income as long as you don’t mess things up. The rent you earn each month is more than what most people make. What more do you want?”
Kathryn thought her brothers already had a good life and didn’t understand why they demanded more.
