Chapter 3767
Marco believed that Clarissa would eventually regret her decisions. She must have felt remorse for abandoning Shiloh in favor of Kathryn, a headstrong girl whose values clashed with theirs. Clarissa was responsible for Shiloh’s death; fearing that Shiloh would overshadow Kathryn, she callously took the life of her adopted daughter, whom she had nurtured for over 20 years.
As soon as Marco left, his two younger brothers followed him.
They trailed behind Marco, shooting glares at Kathryn. Once outside the office, they caught up with him and asked, “Are we really planning to take a leave of absence? With Mom gone, the company is without a leader. If we don’t take charge, we could be ousted soon.”
Noel whispered, “Didn’t Dad tell us to seize whatever opportunities we can now? We need to find a way to secure more money.”
Whether it was Kathryn or Liberty in charge, they understood the necessity of securing as much money as possible before their departure. After Clarissa’s passing, remaining at Farrell Group would be challenging.
Even if Kathryn assumed control, they had no intention of staying at Farrell Group.
Kathryn had consistently looked down on them for occupying high positions without the requisite skills, earning substantial salaries for minimal work.
“Second brother, don’t discuss that here,” Sage interjected, nudging Noel and speaking quietly.
Cameras were everywhere in the office. If Kathryn reviewed the footage, she would overhear their conversation.
Marco took a deep breath and said, “It’s almost the end of the year, and the company is extremely busy with urgent orders before the New Year holiday. Plus, with Mom gone, things are disorganized. However, the more chaotic it is, the more closely Kathryn will scrutinize me. Let’s visit Dad at the hospital first and update him on the situation.”
The
Three brothers entered the elevator. Noel bitterly muttered, “We don’t even know if Kathryn is truly one of us. How can she be so different from our family?” Marco paused for a moment before responding, “She is a true daughter of the Farrell family. She takes after Mom in many ways, but she still has a conscience. There’s a limit to how far she’ll go, unlike Mom.”
“No one can blame us for not being Farrells by blood, so why should we let her hold us back?” Noel asked. “Dad knows what kind of person Kathryn is, which is why he told us to take the valuables from the mansion before she and her Wiltspoon allies make their move.”
“I don’t understand. Even though she didn’t grow up with us and isn’t close to us, she’s been back for two or three years now. She barely knows those people from Wiltspoon. How could she side with them?”
“Mom died angry because Kathryn chose them over her,” Sage said. “Why wasn’t it Kathryn who died? If Shiloh were still alive, Mom might still be here. Shiloh would have sided with Mom for sure. Mom tried to make a move against Liberty, but Kathryn warned Liberty in time.”
“Well, now Mom has completely lost. Kathryn doesn’t seem guilty at all. Isn’t she worried that Mom’s ghost will come after her?” Marco looked at his brother and said, “Mom actually wanted to protect Kathryn. If she hadn’t been there that night, we might have been in big trouble. Mom always tried to give Kathryn a way out.”
“Mom ended her own life out of fear of the…”
The consequences were severe, but ultimately, her actions were intended to save Kathryn. Once she realized her plans had failed, she lost the will to fight. Kathryn pleaded with her to stop making mistakes, which led to Mom taking her own life.
