Chapter 3796
Elora’s sisters might find that the clothes they received didn’t fit properly—either being too big or too small. Only Elora’s clothes fit perfectly.
What Elora didn’t realize was that Tatum had assisted Alonzo in selecting her outfits. Tatum had a keen eye and had been observing Elora for quite some time, allowing him to accurately gauge her measurements. This is why the clothes Alonzo chose for her fit so well.
The outfits Angelo picked for both Elora and Tinsley were also the ideal size.
In contrast, Tatum had only seen the other future sisters-in-law briefly, if at all. He hadn’t met some of them yet, so he couldn’t be sure of their sizes. Therefore, he allowed the two younger sisters to shop for those on their own.
If the clothes didn’t fit, the sisters could always return them to the store for an exchange.
“Young Master Alonzo is quite intelligent and has an excellent memory,” Tatum remarked.
Elora nodded in agreement. “Alonzo is indeed smart, but he loves to play too much.” After a moment, she added, “But he’s only six or seven years old. Kids that age are meant to play.”
Tatum concurred, saying, “Playing is natural for a child. Alonzo is still young and shouldn’t have to carry the family’s burdens yet. Let him enjoy his playtime, and when it’s time for school, he can focus on learning. Childhood should be filled with fun.”
Elora softly hummed in agreement.
She had always guided Alonzo with this same philosophy: when he plays, he plays freely; when he studies, he concentrates fully without distractions.
“Are you hungry, Miss?” Tatum asked with concern. “Would you like me to prepare something for you? Once you’ve
After eating, you might take a brief walk to aid digestion before returning to your room to rest.” Elora typically ate very little at parties, opting for minimal or no wine, and Tatum noticed she hadn’t been drinking that night. She was always cautious, mindful of the attention she garnered as a young, attractive woman from a prominent family.
In social situations, Elora avoided both food and drink to safeguard herself from potential risks. Her reputation allowed her to decline alcohol without any pressure, and everyone knew she was very selective about her meals. The chefs at her home were replaced almost as frequently as others change their outfits, all being top-tier culinary experts. Therefore, when she didn’t eat at the party, everyone simply assumed the food didn’t meet her standards.
Elora was indeed feeling a bit hungry. Fortunately, Tatum had brought her some snacks earlier in the afternoon, and she had eaten a couple along with a glass of warm water. That had been sufficient to keep her satisfied throughout the evening’s social events without feeling too famished.
Now that she was back home, she felt relaxed enough to eat properly. “I’m a bit hungry,” Elora confessed. “Could you make me something light to eat?”
“Of course,” Tatum replied, standing up. “Please wait a moment while I prepare something for you.”
Elora nodded, and Tatum proceeded to the kitchen. After a short while, Elora stood up to carry the gifts from her brother upstairs. On her way up, she encountered her mother on the staircase. “Mom, is Alonzo—”
“Asleep?” she asked softly. Mrs. Ormond smiled and replied, “Alonzo fell asleep. He was so tired from our afternoon of shopping that he nodded off halfway through my story.”
Noticing the gift in Elora’s hand, Mrs. Ormond’s smile grew wider. “Alonzo has never bought me clothes or jewelry, but he got them for you. It seems he is more focused on pleasing you, his big sister.”
As a mother, Mrs. Ormond couldn’t help but feel a bit amused that her son’s thoughtful gestures didn’t extend to her.
