Zachary considered himself quite charming, and it wasn’t just a figment of his imagination—he truly was.

Serenity glanced at him and smiled. “Yes, yes, all your brothers are indeed charming. But what’s most appealing is your family tradition. The men in your family are devoted to their wives and loyal to their emotions.” A strong family tradition, a good man, and a faithful relationship are rare and highly sought after. Any family with a marriageable daughter hopes she can marry into the York family—not for their wealth, but for the loyalty of their men.

“Where’s Sonny?” Serenity asked.

“He’s off having a wild time with Rowan,” Zachary replied. “I’m not sure if they’re at the villa or down by the mountain, but Rowan’s keeping an eye on him, so you don’t need to worry.”

“I’m not worried about him. There are always so many people looking after him here,” Serenity sighed. “It’s his father who frustrates me. Hank keeps saying things to Sonny that make him think my sister doesn’t love him anymore or that Brother Duncan won’t accept him. He even tells Sonny that if my sister has another child, she won’t want him. I wanted to yell at him in the car, but I had to hold back because of Sonny. It was so infuriating.”

She took a deep breath and continued, relieved, “Thankfully, my sister divorced Hank.”

Zachary paused for a moment before responding, “He’s just bitter that your sister is doing better without him. If she weren’t happy, he’d act differently.”

Revenge on a cheating husband, Serenity thought, was simply living a better life than his.

“You’re right,” she agreed.

agreed. “He and his family are just jealous,” she said with a smile, glancing at Zachary. “But my husband is the best. A strong family tradition creates a great man. Thank you for marrying me without hesitation. Without you, my sister and I wouldn’t have been able to change our lives.”
Zachary replied tenderly, “This feeling is mutual, my love. We were meant to be together, even in our past lives. In this life, we will love each other for all our days. Meeting you and falling in love with you is my greatest blessing. Without you, I might not have considered marriage.”
“You’re so exceptional; you could marry whenever you wanted,” Serenity remarked.
“Maybe,” Zachary responded thoughtfully, “but marrying without love is easy. The real challenge is finding someone you truly love—someone you can cherish, trust, and spend your life with. Reflecting on our whirlwind marriage, if it had been anyone else, I wouldn’t have been interested. Perhaps I would have divorced after my grandmother passed away. But because it was you, I was captivated. Now, we’re in this for life.”
“Husband,” Serenity said with a smile, “you’re getting really good at saying sweet things. It’s like drinking honey.”
Zachary chuckled. “I’m just speaking from the heart, not trying to deceive you.”
“I know,” she replied. “I’m not accusing you of lying.”
Serenity affectionately took his arm.
As they descended the stairs, they spotted the old lady sitting on the sofa in the hall. Julian and Kiera were across from her, with Tania by her side. The group was chatting cheerfully.
The old lady clearly favored Kiera, knowing she was Julian’s destined partner.

“You’re getting so good at saying sweet things,” Serenity said with a smile. “It’s like drinking honey.”

Zachary chuckled in response. “I’m just speaking from the heart, not trying to fool you.”

“I know,” she replied. “I’m not accusing you of lying.”

Serenity affectionately took his arm as they made their way down the stairs. In the hall, they spotted the old lady sitting on the sofa. Julian and Kiera were seated across from her, with Tania beside them. The group was chatting cheerfully.

The old lady clearly had a fondness for Kiera. Knowing Kiera was Julian’s destined partner, she had welcomed her warmly. However, due to the close ties between the York and Bucham families, Kiera was expected to call her “Grandma York,” as she would soon be a part of the extended family.

Upon hearing footsteps on the stairs, the group looked up to see Zachary and Serenity descending. The smiles of the old lady and Tania brightened even more.
